Dirk's eyes narrowed behind his glasses as he took in the joined hands. Huh. Did that mean they'd finally got their heads out of their asses and talked to each other? He'd have to ask Jane about it later.
His expression softened a little when his eyes met Jane's. He huffed out a breath and rolled his eyes. "I didn't really have a choice. Feferi dragged me here without telling me where we were going."
He tried to stuff his hands into his pockets, only to realize his shorts didn't have pockets, and instead awkwardly crossed his arms over his chest. "Don't you get on my case about that, too, Crocker. Dave is already pissed at me about it. But I didn't lie to any of you. I didn't know I had powers, alright?"
He felt defensive about the matter, and he knew his explanation sounded that way. But Dave had been mad at him for days now, and he knew this was just the cherry on top of an already shitty situation with his brother. (They hadn't exactly fought yet, and if he had it his way, they never would, but he knew it was coming when they finally got home.) He didn't want to deal with Jake or Jane being mad at him, too.
He glanced at Jake, his expression fond but exasperated. "You're lucky you've got her looking after you, English."
