Just as Karkat was turning to Kanaya to see if she needed any help, she lunged at Dave unexpectedly and Karkat felt himself freeze. The adrenaline that had just begun to die down immediately surged again in Karkat's veins. Distantly, he noticed the glow returning to the cuts in his hand.

"Kanaya?" Karkat called out to her, voice strained and terrified. But she wasn't stopping. Karkat new he was no match for Kanaya; she had extra strength and speed. There was no helping it though. Karkat couldn't just stand there while she sucked Dave's blood.

And even though he knew from what Kanaya had described that in these situations she completely lost control, and couldn't even remember the events afterward, Karkat just couldn't believe that Kanaya would hurt him.

He ran forward and grabbed Kanaya's shoulder to forcefully pull her off of Dave.
