Jake was preparing to reply to him once more when Dirk just...ended it. Dirk just disconnected from Jake, and there was no telling if the AR would just take over from now on or if Dirk would just ignore him outright from then on.

But he wasn't giving up. Not on his bro. Not like this.

He left his apartment in a quiet hurry, a small note left for Jane in case she woke up before he got back. He remembered the directions well enough from the disaster that had been Dirk's party, and made himself look like he definitely belonged in this building, sneaking in with somebody else coming inside.
