There's No Hope Left In Man | Closed to Vriska
After what could only be described as a monstrously awful turn of events in regards to his best...His former best bro and an unnecessary use of his own hope to lash out against a door that he very much hoped cost Feferi a number of pretty pennies, Jake was so far down in the dumps that he practically lived there. He had meandered to his car and just started driving at one point, no thought or care to where he ended up.
To his own surprise, he had somehow landed himself at the parking lot near the big meet up spot that had introduced him to the other super people. Wonderful. Another reminder.
Not content with sulking in his car more, Jake found a bench that overlooked the area the circle had been at. And...and yep. He was crying again. Hopelessness flooded him, thinking only that if he couldn't even help his best bro, how could he even help this city?
It couldn't get worse than this.

....actually yeah. Kinda.
But then she actually had a bit of a point with her next little speech. He does have Jane...Even if he failed this, she'd still want him by her side right? Of course she would! How could he even question that? And when she mentioned kicking Dirk's ass, while he didn't completely like the idea of it...part of him knew he probably could! He's not just old fuddy duddy Jake Englan- English anymore!
He stood up with a nod of his head, fists clenched as he looked her straight in the eyes. "Yeah!!! I do have Jane! And I could totally kick Dirk's ass! I could kick anybody's ass!!! I could kick your ass!!!!! I could kick MY ass!!!!" He wasn't sure what it was about her almost overwhelming if albeit not the most innocent encouragement, but it was striking a chord with him right now.
"I'm not gonna be a quitter! I didn't quit when my truck first started doing bad, and I'm not gonna quit doing anything else just cause I hit a few bumps! I'll give 'em the ol' one two if they keep getting in the way!"
YOU JUST GOTTA 8ELIEVE!!!!!!!!
"You see that, waaaaaaaay out on the horizon?" She spoke in a hush, pointing off into the distance. "That's your DESTINY out there. Now go get 'em tiger!" She smacked him on the bum, intending to send him off into... whatever was out there that he needed to go do that wasn't pathetically weeping on a park bench.
PUT ME IN THE GAME COACH
He looks out to where she points, eyes narrowed and mind focused. When she gives him the go ahead and smacks his rear, he's practically sprinting off towards the nebulous destiny that awaited him. Pumping his arms and legs he...Wait. Wait, he parked the other way.
He's quickly running back by her, giving her a small wave before skidding to a stop. He runs right back to her, a wide grin on his face as he picks her up in a classic bear hug, voice a bit soft. "Thank you, Vriska!" He then set her down with a little finger gun and a shoot. He was gonna get back home...cause there was still someone out there who needed him, and she'd be up from that nap any time now.
Unlikely friendships forged!
He was thanking her...? Man, this was bizarre. Vriska was used to people being insincere with her, and she probably deserved it, but... Jake seemed to mean it. "You're... welcome? I guess?" She waved after him as he left, a smile smile on her face. "Bye Jake!"
