Dirk narrowed his eyes at Jake's story. He and Dave had done some unusual things in their childhood, but Jake's story still sounded like complete bullshit to him. Then again, Jane seemed to believe him, and she didn't strike Dirk as one to lie or exaggerate. Interesting. He'd have to look into Jake later...
His expression darkened as he turned his attention back to Jane. It was his own damned fault for bringing that up, but her question about Dave still put him on edge. His initial reaction was to tell her to mind her own business, but he stomped down on that urge. For whatever reason, he liked Jane, and he didn't want to ruin that.
