Kanaya sat in the cafe, quick flashes of the fight replaying in her mind. Sinking her teeth into the black wolf's ruff. Feferi punching it out of its strange suspended state. The other wolf literally vanishing. The fear that run through her when she saw Eridan lying as if dead in the road. The EMT commenting on how such a shallow wound had bled so much -- Kanaya peeling back the bandage and realizing it hadn't been so shallow when she'd gotten it.
She still felt jittery, and her fangs felt heavy in her mouth. She picked at the threads of her ruined coat, doing her best to listen despite the swirling thoughts. "I'm certain they were real," she said, choosing her words carefully. "The black one's blood was assuredly authentic, although I'm not well-versed enough on the subject to say if it was entirely normal. Recently, it does seem that a multitude of strange events have affected my life. And although it would be wonderful to hear that I'm not just going crazy, if there is a responsible entity behind all this, who? And how was it possible for the white wolf to have evaporated into thin air? I think whatever is ensuing, it's reasonable to speculate that it goes beyond the average science experiment."
She didn't even consider revealing the nature of the strange events. At least two people in the room already knew about her vampiric tendencies, but she had managed to avoid their reactions so far. What if her other friends were grossed out, or afraid that she might fly off the handle at a moment's notice? She didn't want to be viewed as dangerous.
She glanced over at Jade, and remembered how she'd managed to fling nearly 300 pounds of metal without even lifting a finger. Had she been hiding powers as well? Could it be related to the dreamworld somehow? If it didn't come up during this meeting, she planned to text her about it later.
