Seahorse vs. Horsehorse

Feferi's eyebrows show up in surprise when a move she thought might net her the upper hand immediately went... nowhere. Literally nowhere. He ate her momentum like a brick wall and took her misplaced force to where he wanted it.

Her equilibrium tilted as her center of balance rocked backward as he tapped the back of her knee. Instinctually her bent leg locks around his own to keep her as upright as possible. His hand under her back seemed as casual as breathing and she felt abruptly offended that her efforts, as reckless and heedless as they had been, were so easily redirected and thwarted. A look of cold calculation flitted across her face as her desire to see him eat grass skyrocketed.

Even so, his body felt like unmoving steel where it met her own. She might as well have draped herself over a park bench for all the yield he had in him. The temptation to grip those dreads and yank until the bull-headed man bellowed in pain nearly overwhelmed her.

Rather than resort to such cheap tactics, Feferi engaged her excellent core to extricate herself from his gentle support, almost more annoyed by how careful he had the power to be. She would have preferred him to look more flustered, more strained. Instead he was playing with her.

Feferi's pink eyes narrowed as she resumed her circling, though this time it was she who had to focus on not underestimating her opponent. He was no mad bull ready to charge at the first flapping cape.

"Impressive," she admitted grudgingly, slinking rather than bouncing now. She had the measure of him a little better and already she felt regret for how rarely she had made it out to see a sparring partner. She continued her daily swims and exercise, but she had apparently lost her fighting edge. All the more reason to remedy it now rather than risk walking into a fight with a deadly opponent and find herself face first in the dirt.

Feferi felt irritated enough to gamble on him having moved her attack on Jake earlier and moved onto the attack again. Equius was taller than Jake, but the taller they are the harder they fall.

She climbed him like a wall, one sneakered foot planting on his right leg as she kicked off to swing her body around like she was mounting a horse, only the horse was Equius' shoulders and he was the bronco she meant to ride onto the ground. If he failed to thwart her, he'd find himself with a face-full of pink spandex-clad inner thigh as she locked her legs around his head, intending to throw her weight and momentum to drag his head forward and down and tumble him to the ground as she took his balance away from him this time.
