The sign up front cheerily declared "Walk-Ins Welcome!" despite the overwhelming tendency of her clients to make appointments to get their precious Snookums in during a time that they were sure wouldn't be contested. Things getting physical was the absolute opposite of Roxy's idea of a good time, but she'd seen enough Helens and Debras in her day ready to duke it out one v. one just to get that precious time slot for the family's good old Rover. As much fun as it could be to film the soccer moms tearing clumps out of each other's perfect perms, Roxy much preferred giving them all the possibility not to get the authorities called on them just because their work schedules demanded they could only come in at very specific times.

Not that she'd turn down an animal in need, of course.

For now, however, Roxy was content to hum a little to herself as she checked on the day's schedules, one ear ever-perked for the tell-tale jingle of someone entering. The kennels in the back were all cleared out for once, and with no on-site experiments to draw her attention, she was working the front desk like some common scrub. Should the situation demand it, she'd spring into action; for now, she bobbed her head along to the tune of the month's newest pop song and tapped away at the keyboard behind the desk.

"It'd totes help her be less stressed out have a familiar, friendly face around." Roxy grinned, pressing the Benadryl into one of the soft dog treats. Once the bright pink pill was sufficiently hidden, she offered the treat to the puppy and took a moment to scratch the little dog behind the ears, cooing encouragements down. This done, she began the process of putting in the catheter, which included some minor washing and trimming around the immediate area before the tube was actually inserted.

Roxy hummed as she considered the girl's words, throwing a grin on back. "Yeah, I did! Graduated...uh, four years ago, give or take? Was a TA for awhile there, though, mostly assistin' on research and makin' sure that no one was meltin' their faces off in the lab." She couldn't help but laugh, even though lab safety was, of course, no joke. "Were you in one of the classes I helped out with? If you were in the rooms with the cat posters, that was aaaall my doin'."

That explanation was enough to jog Jade's memory, and she could suddenly remember herself several years ago, toiling away in her freshman chemistry lab with posters of little cats wishing her to "hang in there" lining the walls.

"Yes, that's exactly it! I was in your chemistry lab. It must have been the last year you were there." She smiled a little, glad to have solved the mystery. Plus, it was a welcome distraction from the little injured puppy she had brought in, giving her time to focus and put on a brave face again. "It's awesome to see that you're a doctor now and everything! That's really cool!"

"Shit, I hope I helped you learn somethin'!" Roxy laughed, mentally filing through her memories of being a teaching assistant to try and pull up more than a vague recollection of Jade's face. In the meantime, she began messing with the stretcher while keeping up the conversation.

"Yeah! I ended up bein' a nurse for awhile in some of the other clinics around town, or doin' one or two days out of the week to give the regular doctors some time to themselves. But that wasn't really my dream, y'know?" Roxy shrugged, then grinned as she threw out a hand to indicate the room and, presumably, the rest of the building. "Hence me openin' up this place! I've got two other doctors workin' here now, plus a handful of nurses. Granted, they're all on lunch break ATM and we ain't super stuffed up the back, but they do exist.

"Anyway," Roxy continued, bringing her arms right the fuck back in, "what about you? Got any plans post-post-education, or are you just lettin' the puzzle pieces kinda fall where they might and then scribble away on top of 'em once they've stopped bouncin' all over?"

"I think I definitely did! I am more of a physics person than I am a chemistry person, but I don't remember struggling in that class, which I am sure was because you were such a great teacher!" Granted, Jade was good enough at teaching herself that she didn't often rely too heavily on the teachers in the first place... but she didn't remember her Chem lab being particularly bad, so Roxy must have been a good TA.

"And I don't know exactly what I'm doing yet! Most likely graduate school, though, unless I decide to go and become an engineer or something. But I think I'd rather stay in academia. Building and designing things is fun, but I want to be where all of the big discoveries happen, you know?"

"Awww, you're gonna get me blushin'!" Roxy laughed, though she kept her participation in the conversation to a minimum for a few moments as Jade spoke. Her attention became directed to messing with the IV bags, and she soon had the pup all hooked up.

"Graduate school, huh? That ain't a bad gig. Was gonna go myself and get set up with a proper geneticist degree, but I just couldn't handle another four years of school." Roxy shrugged, taking another quick moment to check the dog's leg before she began moving the small canine.

"Alright, I'm gonna take this bad girl in for a radiography. You wanna come with me for moral support?"
