STAYING IN WITH THE SQUIDDLES- CLOSED TO JADE
Rose tucks a blanket around her knees and settles in for a well-deserved quiet afternoon. She has a mug of tea in her lap, a knitting project on hand, and several uninterrupted hours ahead of her. She has no impending obligations of the social, educational, or professional varieties, and she knows that Jade is scheduled to work until late tonight. Time to self-indulge.
Rose has always had a certain fondness for the Squiddles, and she considers it a fortuitous coincidence that her time off coincides perfectly with the release of a new episode. She hasn't had time to watch one on its air date in weeks, due in no small part to navigating life with a roommate again. Living with Jade has been pleasant so far, but Rose doesn't know her very well yet, and is wary of how she would react to her taste in shows.
The title music plays, and Rose sinks down into the couch with a pleased sigh, cradling her tea in both hands. Just as she prepares to take a sip, she hears the door click open, and barely avoids spilling all over herself.

The door doesn't so much as click open as burst open, and Jade's eyes widen a bit when she sees Rose on the couch. But... that's the theme song! The Squiddles theme song! The episode hasn't started yet, and it's on. She doesn't even need to rush to find the stream on her laptop!
"Is this the new episode?" Jade asks, a look of determined concentration on her face, as though they are handling sensitive information here. She doesn't really give Rose time to respond, however, before she tosses herself onto the couch and leans forward, eager to see what her favorite tentacled companions would get themselves into this week.

"Yes. It is," Rose replies, and forces herself to relax. Jade likes Squiddles. This could be good.
"I take it you've been awaiting the mid-season finale with bated breath?" she asks.

It doesn't even really occur to her that Rose is watching the Squiddles, which therefore means that Rose likes the Squiddles. No, she's far too invested in the events right now.
"I mean, last episode was so intense! Princess Berryboo ended up in Skipper Plumthroat's evil, Squiddle-hating cluthces, and I don't see how they're going to rescue her! I've been dying not knowing what's going to happen!!!" Jade throws her hands in the air wildly. She's been a little anxious about this episode.

She joins Jade in focusing her undivided attention on the screen. It's very different to watch the show with someone else, and Jade's infectious enthusiasm has her on the edge of her seat by the commercial break, her tea forgotten as she becomes absorbed by Skipper Plumbthroat's attempts to thwart the rescue mission.

Jade falls back onto the couch, kicking her legs a little bit. "I can't believe it's a commercial break! I need to know what happens next!!"
