Dreaming on Prospit | Open to All Prospit Dreamers
When Jade woke to see her world bathed in gold, she smiled.
For as long as Jade could remember, she had dreamt here, in this golden fantasy land with spires and towers. She could fly through the air as long as she willed herself to, and she loved talking to the strange, paper-white people who lived here. They called her titles of royalty, like "princess" and "my lady," but Jade refused to be at all queen-like. She didn't care for power; she just wanted to have some fun while she dreamt, and if that meant dirtying up her golden dress a bit, then so be it!
There were others here - humans like her - whose faces she knew well at night, but faded from memory when she awoke. They weren't always here. Most of them lived in a separate building, apart from the boy who lived in the tower next to hers, and since he was sometimes asleep when she dropped by, she assumed the same must have been true of the others. Still, when they were awake, she enjoyed
Jade sat up and stretched out, letting feeling return to her body. She felt more powerful here, like she could spin the world at her fingertips if she wanted to. Not that she'd tried. (Yet.)
She poked her head out of the window of her tower and then jumped right out, soaring through the skies with a triumphant laugh. She couldn't wait to see what kind of adventures the golden kingdom of Prospit would give her today!

Thinking she could get a better view of the enclosure from above, Kanaya pushed off from the ground and settled on a tree branch. She swung her feet. In the distance she could see fountains and clear streams of sparkling water. She turned her head to the right and a large golden apple smacked her in the face. It smelled perfectly fine. She plucked it and took a bite. Ouch! She touched a finger to her mouth and it came away red. "I must've misjudged the bite," she mumbled to herself.

As she floated along, however, she nearly ran into another person - a human, most notably. Jade recognized her face, much in the way someone might recognize another student they passed in the hall, but she couldn't claim to really know the other girl. Yet the blood on her mouth immediately caught Jade's eye.
"Oh my gosh, are you alright? You're bleeding!"
no subject
"Oh, hello," she said from her seat on the tree, her accent providing a lilting quality to her voice. "Yes, I'm alright, I just bit my lip by accident." She attempted to wipe the blood from her mouth and only succeeded in smearing it further up her face.
She tossed the apple in her hand over her shoulder and looked at her sticky hand, not wanting to dirty the pretty silk of her gown. She had nowhere else to wipe it, however, and just made due by placing both of her hands on the branch.
"I'm Kanaya," she said. "I would shake your hand but I am afraid they are both unsuitable for the task at the moment." She smiled at the girl, her growing eye teeth poking over her bottom lip a bit.

Come to think of it, Jade couldn't remember ever seeing a doctor here. Prospit had always felt safe and secure, like the sort of place where injuries simply didn't happen. The worst thing that Jade could remember happening to her was banging her elbow on a door, and even that didn't hurt for very long.
"Does it hurt? Oh, and my name is Jade by the way!"

no subject
"Um - so you've been dreaming here for years? Do you also have a dream tower somewhere?"
no subject
Kanaya pushed off from the branch and gently descended until she was kneeling by the shallow stream. She cleaned her hands in the water and then turned to look up at Jade again, shaking off the last few drops. "You said also -- do you have one? I think I've dreamt of my friends before, but I don't think I've seen you around." This time seemed different, somehow, too. More clear than before.
no subject
"Yes, I have one too! And... I don't really remember seeing you around before, but you seem familiar somehow!" Jade shrugged. "Maybe I just saw you in passing or something. It seems easier to forget the stuff that happens here, somehow."
no subject
She looked around awkwardly. "How do you think these plants work, in any case? They're completely golden, but I'm certain they're alive." She leaned down to touch a flower, but stopped suddenly. "What's that noise?"
Kanaya's eyes flew open in her real bed. Her father's alarm had gone off. The first rays of dawn were streaming through her curtains. She squeezed her eyes shut and rubbed her face, and was startled to find blood on her lip. She stretched her mouth. No pain. Had she somehow really cut herself and healed so quickly?
She hurried to the bathroom and washed her face and hands, then examined her lips. Yes, definitely no cut, but... had her eye teeth always been so sharp? She touched one gingerly. It didn't hurt. She twisted her mouth. "Hmm."
During breakfast she remembered her dream, and cursed the distraction the blood had caused. Now she hardly remembered anything. But... she did remember there was a girl. And how real it seemed. Maybe she'd be able to meet her in her dreams again soon.
Open!
Tonight she was in Prospit proper rather than her tower. She'd found an open-air concert venue, and a piano was still set up on the stage even though all other signs of a previous performance, all amps and speakers, all lights, had been cleared away.
Quite cheerfully, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, Jane gathered her skirts, seated herself on the bench before the empty audience of seats, and began to play.
no subject
She drifted in quietly, spotting the other girl seated at the piano. She didn't dare interrupt, however; instead, she took a seat in the second row and sat there, listening to the song with a cheerful smile on her face. She sat there in silence until the song ended and then began to clap loudly.
"That was really good!"
no subject
"Aw, shucks. Thank you! I've always loved the piano, I have been playing since I was very young."
She knelt at the end of the stage, skirt spread around her, and only then seemed to recognize the young lady. She blinked, started to lift one hand to her mouth, but then just sort of stopped there. She was confused, but not frightened. It was hard to be frightened on Prospit.
"Say...aren't you..."
no subject
But even as Jade said that, she had a sense that wasn't right. This was too lucid a dream for her subconscious to just slip things in (if that's what this was about.) Jane lived here, just like she did. She had the gold skirts and everything.
"You're the lady with the kitten and the cupcakes!" she said. "Um... Jane, right? What are you doing here?"
Her tone wasn't accusatory - merely curious. This was a weird and interesting development after all!
no subject
Granted, Jane didn't always dream here. When she did, she often just stuck to her own room to enjoy the peace and sunlight of her dreams or went to visit a cherished few dear white-shelled friends, never presuming to look into the windows of the other towers she saw. That would have been rude, even in her sleep.
But there had been something familiar about Jade, something she still couldn't quite put her finger on. Jane put a hand to her forehead, bewildered.
"Have we...I feel like I've seen you before all that business with the cat. Gosh, this is strange, having deja vu in a dream."
no subject
Jade scratches her chin, trying to think about this. Jane did seem familiar, and maybe this would explain why! But was this actually Jane she was talking to, or was this just a dream Jane, who already lived in her head? She'd have to pester Jane once she woke up to see what all of this was about.
"I know! I definitely remember thinking that you looked familiar... Maybe we have been dream neighbors this whole time! That would explain a lot."
And also bring up so many more questions, but Jade would make do with what she had.
no subject
Apparently, Jane was not content to make do with this new information at all.
"For instance, where exactly could we have met before for the two of us to be showing up in each other's recurring dreams? Strange familiarity aside, I'm sure I'd never seen you in the real world before the incident with Detective Jowd."
She paused.
"I mean the cat."
no subject
"And I guess it does raise some questions. I am also sure that I never knew you in real life either! But I am just as sure that this is a different kind of dreaming that we do here. For one it has a lot more internal consistency than most dreams. All of the structures, while being very pretty and dreamlike, show up in the same place! So I think it's possible to know somebody here without meeting them in real life. It's just an alternate reality that we can only access while sleeping. That's my theory anyways."
Jade paused, considering this for a moment. "Well, no. It's more of a hypothesis. So the logical thing to do is to come up with a test! To make sure that both of us are actually here and we are not just dream projections of the other person. I can pester you tomorrow with a special code phrase, and you can respond back with another special code phrase. Then we'll know for sure that this is real."
no subject
Said the skeptical skeptic, skeptically. After a moment, though, she breathed out through her nose.
"Though I suppose we've nothing to lose by making the attempt. Besides looking incredibly silly tomorrow if we're wrong, I guess. Or if one of us forgets the code before we wake up. How do you propose we make ourselves remember, when these dreams are so unreliable?"
no subject
"Well... we just need something to spark our memory, right? If I send you the code word that should be enough to spark your memory, if this is as real as it seems! As for me..."
She thought through to her room, and more specifically what she would be able to see immediately upon waking up. What greeted her every morning? Why, none other than the friendly, smiling faces of the clusters of tanglebuddies that took residence on her bed.
"Oh! I got it! I will ask you who your favorite Squiddle is! And you can respond with... Detective Jowd! As he is not a real Squiddle, I will know it is not a real answer, and it also references what we are talking about now. Does that sound good?"
prospit shenanigans | jade
Oh well, now's not the time to ponder the endless unknown, now's the time to fly!! and to maybe, hopefully, run into that one girl who lived next-tower.
John throws off the covers and floats (floats!!!) over to the tower window. As excited as he is, he's still a little discombobulated, and isn't going to immediately throw himself off the ledge. Instead he sits himself on the window railing, peering out into the vast Yellow in front of him. Usually, when that one girl is around, she ends up finding him here, but man, she could be anywhere right now. Who knows, she could be any one of those yellow specks moving down below. She could be that speck- or that one- or- or she could be flying around right above him. Huh.
He waves his arm in large sweeping gestures, hoping to catch her attention. She has to look down eventually, right?
no subject
She floats down until she's right outside his window, then leans in and rests her arms on his window-sill. "You're awake!" she chimes. "Hooray! Do you want to go exploring today?"
Sometimes exploring meant actual exploring, flying out to the city limits and finding new places. Other times, it meant causing some light-hearted mischief among the carapaces. Jade likes to think that she has a good sense for when a joke will go too far at least, which helps her keep his pranks in line when need be.
no subject
"Yeah, of course!" He blurts out, thinking about the last time they got together and caused mayhem with a few strategically placed whoopie cushions. Man, that was a blast. It gave him a ton of ideas for his next prank. Speaking of which...
"Oh! Hey, real quick I had a great idea for something we could do." John says while stumbling over to the side of his room. His dream room almost exactly mirrors his childhood room, something that he doesn't question too much, which means that his chest full of various prank-inducing objects is right there for easy access. He just recently cleaned up his room, adding a bunch of new stuff to the chest, and if the logic of this dream world holds up, they should be in this chest as well.
"Aha!" He exclaims. He turns around and proudly holds up a can of shaving cream and a pack of balloons. He gives the girl a look and wags his eyebrows. Let it be known that John Egbert is not known for being very charismatic.
no subject
"Those are new! How did you get them here?" She doesn't really remember seeing the stores stocking anything like shaving cream, but then again, she doesn't really visit the stores either. She's a princess! Things that she wants here have a way of making their way to her.
"Also, what are you planning on doing with them? Nothing too evil, right? We don't want the carapaces to revolt against our oppressive human royalty!"
Even when you're dreaming | Jade (other's can jump in)
She didn't mind the dream - it wasn't exactly a recurring dream, per se, but more like dreaming about the same place and people. The people were boring as hell. The place, not so much.
The golden citadel and surrounding cities had untold riches. Chapels lined with enough gold and precious gems to fill the cargo hold of any ship, stained glass with the kind of detail that took years to make, paintings and tapestries, libraries filled with history books about places and people that never existed. It was fascinating.
She was all set to enjoy this dream, and explore parts of the golden city she never had before, when she saw an unmistakable silhouette. Why was she dreaming about Jade of all people?
She shrugged.
"HEY! HARLEEEEEEEEY!"
no subject
So of course Vriska Serket was here. Not even in Jade's wildest dreams could she be in a place without Vriska spontaneously appearing to ruin everything.
Jade turned slowly at the sound of Vriska's voice, narrowing her eyes slightly. "Vriska? What are you doing here?"
no subject
Vriska pauses for a moment.
"I always have this same dream but I've never dreamed about you before."
no subject
"This is not a wet dream! Mostly because I would never have a wet dream that involved you in it."
God, even the thought of it ran a chill up her spine.
"Anyways, that should be my line! I dream here all the time. Why do you have to be here all of the sudden?"
no subject
She trails off for a moment and raises an eyebrow at Jade.
"Are you incepting me, Harley?"
no subject
A pause.
"Plus, incepting is not even a real thing! Though that doesn't explain how we are having the same dream, assuming you are actually here..." Jade ran a hand through her hair and then let out a big sigh. "Anyways, it doesn't matter! We should probably just avoid each other so... why don't you go that way," and she points in one direction, "and I'll go this way." Then the entirely opposite direction.
There. Then she could just forget this had ever happened.
