Once again, the guards and other dreamers file into the throne room one by one. It feels as airy and inviting as usual, but there are more guards surrounding the Queen than there were the last time - no doubt because of the assassin that cut the last meeting short.

The Queen doesn't speak yet, waiting politely for everybody to arrive and get settled. This should give you time to speak to any friends or foes who might be filtering in alongside you.

Jade felt a little hazy when she woke up, her memory of the past few days an utter blur. She felt sore all over, and had the worst crick in her neck, but she followed the guard out anyways, floating down the familiar streets and taking in the sights. Somehow, everything felt more vibrant, more golden, more lively than usual, like she had just stepped from a dark room into a bright light... but that didn't make sense, did it? What had she been doing before now?

She stood quietly before the throne for now, rubbing her neck to try and work out some of the pain. Geez, she really needed to work on her sleeping posture.

Jake almost felt relieved when he was escorted to the queen once more. After all, while the battle did come as promised, it still felt somewhat strange to recognize that the dreams had been a thing. Yet here he was again, and he was sure some familiar faces would...
be...

Oh. Oh shit.

He rushes over to Jade the moment he recognizes her, and tears are already flowing down his face. He speaks in high pitched, garbled noises, the only words really recognizable being 'I'm so sorry', 'Can you forgive me' and oddly enough 'Grandma'.

Not even five minutes and the man is overstimulated.

Jade sort of recognized the crying man in front of her. She wasn't really sure where she recognized him from, but his face was definitely familiar.

At any rate, that made it no easier for her to understand why he was suddenly weeping at the sight of her and apologizing. Grandma? What did he mean grandma? Jade was too young to have fully grown children, let alone grandkids!

"Um... it's okay? I forgive you? Though I am not sure why you need to apologize..."

Jake sniffed and wiped at his face as he tried to calm himself down, Jade forgiving him certainly helping in that. He nods slowly, slow breathing following. Okay. Just...calm down Jake. She's here. Make sure that doesn't change in the future.

He gives her a small bow, eyes focused as he looks into her own. "Thank you...and I promise you, both in here and when we're awake...though...I'm...still kinda confused on that right now. But anyway!! The important thing is, I promise, nothing will ever hurt you while I'm around! Just consider me your personal bodyguard!"

Jade stared at him for a good thirty seconds, trying to parse what he was saying to her. A bodyguard? She didn't need a bodyguard. Also, she hardly knew this guy! Why did he want to be her bodyguard?

"Well... thank you! But you don't need to go out of your way to protect me. I can take care of myself!" And if she couldn't take care of herself, then that was her fault, really. She didn't need to inconvenience anybody else.

Kanaya was feeling rejuvenated and peaceful, content to have awoken in her favorite place after such a harrowing battle. The feeling was cut short, however, then brought back full force when she spotted Jade across the room, looking achey and perhaps a bit confused but definitely, definitely alive.

She gasped and ran at her full tilt, stopping short in front of Jade, hands extended but not touching her. She was afraid if she did she'd phase right through her. "Jade?" she ask disbelievingly. "Are you in suitable health? How is it that you've come to be present in this place?"

Kanaya was acting strange. Her hands were just hovering there, like she was afraid to touch her for some reason. Did she smell or something? Jade subtly ducked her head down to sniff her armpits... but no, she smelled like she usually did.

"Uh- I'm a little sore, I guess, but I feel fine! Really. And I just... woke up here like I usually did. And then the guards brought me here, like they did last time." She shrugged. Surely it wasn't that weird that she was here, right?

Kanaya open her mouth to say more, but the throng surrounding Jade was growing rapidly and she had to step back before she was trampled. So her questions over Jade's death remained unspoken for now, though it certainly seemed Jade had no recollection of dying. Was that even her? Were their dreamselves separate from their bodies? After all, there was no guarantee being alive in this magical dream world meant anything in reality.

Ugh, it was too much to think about, especially with the way her brain tended to go all warm and fuzzy when she was here. She decided to give up on that venture for now and just watch the rest of her companions ogle Jade.

"Jade!" John called, navigating around a few other people that had already clustered. One was- Oh. Oh boy. He'd better keep out of it.
"Feels like I haven't seen you in a while," he said, arms spread as if ready to go in for the hug.

Oh thank god somebody who was acting normally around her. Jade knew she could count on John. "John!" she called back, walking over and returning the hug as tightly as she could manage. "I haven't seen you in a while, either! How are you?"

Terezi was greeted upon arrival by guards; her cheerful demeanor shown through as she was lead back to the Queen's Palace for another summons. The idea of getting answers from the previous meeting gave her a sense of excitement when she arrived. Taking a long breath in, she gathered who was already present and noticed right away a certain somebody she hadn't expected. Jade Harley. A swirl of guilt and happiness mixed like a pool in her stomach as she ran over subconsciously. Overall, she was glad to see Jade alive and well; but the reason why remained a mystery. She was really dead. Wasn't she?

"Jade! I can't believe you're here!" Terezi replied with shock; she was apart of the group gawking at Jade's arrival. "How are you here?!"

Jade cocked her head to the side. "What's so surprising about me being here?" she asked, looking honestly puzzled. "I was here the last time that the queen summoned us, you know! I just woke up like I usually do and then I got brought here. It's... nothing special, really."

Really, the big question was why everybody was acting so weird around her, but Jade decided to hold back on that one for now.

Vriska rubbed her eyes sleepily, following the Prospitians to the throne room. When she arrived several of her divine peers were already assembled, including one (1) Jade Harley.

Jade Fake-Your-Own-Death Harley.

"Jade I'm going to kick your ass when we wake up! How DARE you try to pull one over on me? That joke was lame, and really, really fucking tasteless. I can't believe you thought I'd fall for such a cheap trick." Vriska spat her words from across the room, shaking a fist menacingly.
"J U S T
Y O U
W A I T."

Vriska crossed her arms over her chest, simmering in her anger as she waited for the others to arrive and the Queen to begin yet another pointless, boring speech.

Jade had no idea what Vriska was talking about. She couldn't remember any tricks that she had pulled on anybody recently, let alone Vriska. Unless she was still angry about the eight ball thing?

Well, that didn't matter. Jade just rolled her eyes and turned the other way, ignoring the spider girl. There was no reason to so much as give her the time of day.

Tavros, after entering the room, found himself staring at Jade in disbelief, but he was too uncertain about himself and the small crowd around her to actually walk over and say hello. He was also sure that if he tried talking, all that would come out of his mouth was a line of stuttering.

As much as he loved being on Prospit, with his ability to walk and fly, oh God did he love being able to fly, he hated having to see Vriska in the same vicinity, especially when Sollux wasn’t around.

Deciding his best bet was to lay low and wait for the Queen to begin speaking, he found himself a nice area off to the side of the group, near the guards, and stood with his hands jammed into the pockets of his golden pajama bottoms. He only stood for a minute though, finding more entertainment in hovering a few inches off the ground rather than staying put.

This time, Karkat spent the walk over grilling his guard about whether or not there was going to be another disastrous monster attack. Naturally, the guard infuriatingly refused to spill anything. There had to be someone who could warn them about this shit before it happened. Most likely, though, Karkat was an idiot for trying to ask the guards anything. It wasn't like he hadn't tried it before.

Once he got there, almost everyone was already there, and seemed to be gathered around. He saw more than a few emotional displays, and upon further investigation...

Oh.

Well, Karkat would figure out how Jade was suddenly back later. For now, he figured it was best to let the people closest to her have their respective moments. He stood off a bit to the side, arms crossed (but listening for confirmation that she actually was alive). Hopefully, the queen would have some answers on that front. The word 'immortal' entered Karkat's brain and made him feel somewhat ill. They had already been called gods, after all.

"It's wonderful to see all of you again, my young gods," the Queen proclaims, once it seems like things have settled down a little around Jade. "I understand that your most recent battle was quite vicious, and yet as a group you stood victorious, alongside your other halves from the land of darkness. Only your combined efforts could fell the foul beasts that plagued your city, and your bravery even in the face of tragedy will serve as inspiration to the kingdom of Prospit for eons to come."

She clasps her hands together. She seems pretty pleased with you all, even if her facial expression is kind of hard to read. "With this, you have passed the first trial, and proven yourself partially worthy of taking up your old titles. There are still many trials to go, but I am confident that, now that you are joined with the others, you will conquer them with ease and glory. I am honored to serve as your revered guide for your reawakening."

She folds her hands in her lap and sits up straight. "Now, as a reward for such a stunning victory... is there anything you would like to know?"

Could it be? Could you actually have a chance to get some answers out of her? It can't hurt to try, right?

"YEAH, WHY IS JADE ALIVE, WHEN IS THE NEXT MONSTER ATTACK, WHAT ARE THE NEXT TRIALS, WHY ARE THERE TWO KINGDOMS, AND WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN BY 'GODS'?" ...That just about covered a tenth of Karkat's questions. Those were the important ones, probably. Besides the obvious, what the hell is any of this and how does magic exist? Somehow, Karkat doubted that the queen would be able to adequately answer that one.

It felt good to finally yell these things at someone who seemed at least somewhat responsible for all of the things they had been through. This bullshit was getting excessively frustrating. The likelihood of actual, helpful answers? Probably less than one percent. But it was still kind of worth it for the chance to scream.

Terezi had figured Jade was having to recollection of being dead or the awareness that she had died. It was quite strange but Karkat had beat everyone to the punch; shouting out many questions the group most likely had. She pointed at the Queen, thinking of her own question. "Are all the monsters on our planet from you and the other queen? Will the city continue to be destroyed until we finish our trials? And what happens after our trials are over and we get our title?"

She was concerned for the city and the end goal; there were too many questions that needed to be answered or at least the general base to be filled some kind of answer. Feeling tense, she wondered if it the answers they were going to get were actually going to make sense or if they would be cryptic again.

Jake rubbed the sleep from his eyes, having arrived quite a bit late, as everything finally came into focus and the Queen's words registered with him. Hadn't he meet this monarch before? It seemed like a distant past or dream to him as he began becoming aware of his surroundings.

Young gods? Oh... did that have something to do with the hero-stuff Jade had told him about? So, maybe this entire thing wasn't just a dream. Maybe it was really happening. But what was the Queen talking about with victories and oh! There was Jade. Maybe he could talk to her. After all, they hadn't spoken in quite awhile, not for lack of trying on his part. Now if he could just get around the small crowd...

"Jade! Jade! Over here. Can you help me a bit with understanding all of this? I feel like I may have forgotten vital information."

Jade was so confused by the attention she was getting, not to mention the fact that Karkat just asked why she was alive. Of course she was alive! Why wouldn't she be? Jake, then, came as a very welcome distraction.

"Well, I think all of us are a little confused!" she offered. "The queen likes to speak in a lot of vague riddles and stuff. I think the general idea is that we're gods, though? And we have to go through trials in order to prove ourselves. Or... something like that, at least!"

"Riddles, huh? Well, that just seems like a bunch of codswallop! Why not just be straightforward with us?" he commented, placing his hands on his hips in exasperation with a frown. He sighed heavily and opened up his arms to give his cousin a giant hug.

"In other news, why the dickens did you stand me up last week? And why haven't you been returning my calls and messages? Did I upset you somehow? I've been very worried about you, Jade." He remembered going to the park where they agreed to meet last week and having her never show. Then, he kept calling and messaging her and grew more and more worried after the only family he knew he had left with each passing day. It relieved him to know she was alright, but now he wanted answers.

Jade cocked her head to the side, frowning deeply. "I don't remember standing you up!" she told him honestly. She couldn't really remember the last thing that had happened to her, but she remembered plugging her meeting in with Jake into her calendar. There was no way she could have forgotten it! "I thought we were meeting in a week. It's only been a day or two, right?"

Right? Surely she wouldn't have just forgotten an entire week.

His brow drew together in worry as his cousin spoke. She believed it to have only been a day or two? When it had been 2 weeks since he'd last spoken with her?

"Jade, it's been about 2 weeks since we've last spoken. You haven't been answering any of my calls or messages. I've been fretting over the state of your well-being for the last week as well as pondering my own actions and if I'd done something to upset you. I haven't, have I? Where have you been? What have you been doing?"

The dark-skinned man raised his arms to gesture as he was speaking, dropping his arms to his sides dejectedly once he'd finished, giving his cousin a forelorn look.

"Two weeks?" Jade blurted out, too shocked by the number to keep her tone even. "That- that can't be right. It was just yesterday that we were talking, I swear..."

She worried her bottom lip, trying to bring to mind anything from the past two weeks... but nothing was coming to mind. It was a complete blank. Still, Jake looked upset.

"Well- I guess I may be undergoing some form of... amnesia?" It was the best explanation she could manage to think of. "So I don't know what happened over the past two weeks, but I promise it wasn't your fault! I must have just gotten... really busy or something. But as soon as I wake up, I'll make sure I get in touch!"

"Amnesia? And you don't remember or have a clue what might have caused it? Maybe you should see a doctor, Jade. I'm really very worried about you..." he trailed off, putting his hand on her shoulders out of concern and squeezing them gently. He then took a deep breath and let the concern wash away a bit, really getting a look at his cousin.

"All worries aside, though, you look great! It's been a few years since we last saw each other, and must I say you've really grown into yourself!" Jake laughed, finally pulling his cousin into a hug that warmed his still relatively sleepy body. He was finally seeing his beloved cousin again, even if it was only in a dream.

"Yeah, I will! As soon as I wake up, I'll be sure to make an appointment." Of course, she wouldn't be waking up for another couple of days, and by then she'd know the issue - but for now, Jade really meant it.

It was a relief when Jake changed subjects, though, and Jade happily returned the hug, squeezing him tightly. "You look great, too! All grown up and stuff. I bet you have to fight off all of your suitors with a pitchfork, huh?" She gave him a light nudge with her elbow, to show it was just a joke.

Jake laughed and stood back, blushing a bit at the suitors bit. He reached up to scratch the back of his neck a little.

"Actually, no. I don't have to do that. Janey, however, will destroy anyone who flirts with me. Janey being... my girlfriend and roommate," he admitted, a fond smile on his face. Darker green eyes met brighter ones as he deigned to change the subject again, once more picking up conversation about the dream-place because he was still confused about the goings-on.

"That can be discussed more a little later, when we meet. Can you explain a little more about what's going on here? Why exactly are we here? You'd mentioned riddles and trials and the queen mentioned heroes... Does this all have to do with that buzzing in my chest I mentioned that we were going to talk about more? I'm still pretty confused and honestly a little nervous I won't remember this." Jake took another look around the golden room they were all standing in, vaugely recalling the color in prior dreams, but never remembering anything of substance.

"Oh my gosh, congratulations! I didn't know you had a girlfriend! I need to meet her as soon as possible!"

Still, they had more to talk about than significant others. Jake had asked her some very good questions!

"It does have to do with the chest buzzing, yes. Somehow, the dream world here is connected to the fact that we have powers in the real world. I am not really sure how or why it connects, since the Queen has been very mysterious about it all. She said something about us being gods once. But I think you will probably remember it! The dreams have been a lot more clear to me recently, at least."

"Of course! As soon as we meet in the real world, you'll get to meet her. She's simply splendid!" Jake laughed as he relayed this, loving how interested his cousin was in meeting his lovely girlfriend. However, his tone turned serious again once Jade addressed the questions he'd asked.

"Ok, so we're gods? I recall this Queen person here saying that not too long ago, but has that ever been explained? Like, how are we gods? Why are we gods? What are we supposed to do as gods? Does that mean we can never die? Like, are we immortal or something? Does everyone here have powers of some kind? Do all of you know each other in the real world or are we all still mysteries to one another?" The questions simply flowed out of him as he tried to make sense of the situation, not really understanding what was going on and how that would translate into his everyday life. Thus far, he'd only experienced a dull buzzing in his chest, usually around the mostly chipper Jane. What sort of powers would he even have? And how was he supposed to work on them?

The queen took her time to muse over Terezi and Karkat's questions. Probably to come up with a properly mystical bullshit way of answering them, as she does.

She started by turning to Terezi. "Though the demons you face are born of our soil, they do not heed titles or nobility. They are a natural manifestation of your coming of age and can be stopped as easily as the tides of the ocean or the ticking of a clock."

Then it was to Karkat. "When I say you are gods, I mean just that. It is only natural that gods would good continue to persist past the temporary failing of their mortal coil. And your next trial, I fear, is still brewing in the primordial energies, too chaotic for me yet to perceive it."
