This was it. Karkat was actually going to go on a date with Terezi. If he had told his past self that this would happen, back when he'd literally been trying to set her up with Dave, past him probably would have laughed his ass off. But there he was. He had put on a bunch of different shirts and outfits, absolutely none of which looked good on him. Eventually, he had settled for his brightest red t-shirt and a normal pair of jeans. Terezi was blind, anyway, the color was all that actually mattered.

The plan was to meet up at the Benjamin Building near the front entrance and take a taxi to their destination. Karkat knew where they were headed, but like the master of romance he was, he was keeping as a surprise for her. Hopefully, she'd like it. And wouldn't think it was stupid. Actually now that Karkat thought about it, it was definitely the worst place he could possibly take her and oh shit he needed to think of something else. But they were meeting up in ten minutes and he'd already made a point of making it a surprise and if he took her to some basic coffee shop that would be even more idiotic and oh fuck why hadn't he let her make the plans this was going to be a fucking disaster.

On that note, Karkat pocketed his phone and wallet and pushed open the door to his room, prepared to face his doom. His head was swimming and he was basically trying not to think about anything as he walked all the way through his dorm and then outside across the campus. Luckily, it was a nice, sunny day. Everything would have been ruined if it had been raining. People walked the sidewalks around him, chatting merrily, blissfully unaware that there was a doomed main in their midst.

Finally, he spotted the building in the distance, and near the front entrance there was a girl that looked about the right height and stature to be Terezi. As soon as he saw her, there was an almost painful lurch in his stomach. Swallowing down the nerves, he closed the rest of the distance between them and greeted her nervously.

"Hey, Terezi.. You ready to go?"

Insert Coin didn't look like much from the outside: dark tinted windows and a large green and black sign over top. Nevertheless the bike rack out front was almost always full and finding parking could be quite a challenge.

It lay several blocks north of the park, nearer to Skaia U than Crocker U and well nestled in the heart of the area where most Skaia students who lived off campus tended to settle in a more densely packed area with apartments and eateries. It didn't bother advertising much since it had become a staple of college life in Sburb and business was booming.

Inside the place was dimly lit with scattered neon and the comforting blue glow of abundant screens. Most of the floor space was devoted to games that ran the gamut from pac man up to the more modern games with motion capture so you could duck your character behind cover and several DDR machines to trick people into exercising.

A long glass counter stretched to your right as you came in, complete with the full range of prizes that you could redeem your tickets for, all the way up to the 100,000 ticket replica light saber that gleamed in its own case behind the counter. The employees generally looked bored as they exchanged cash for tokens and tickets for prizes.

Farther in was another counter that the owners had had the brilliant idea of making available to food truck vendors. The menu varied drastically depending on the day and regular customers tracked Insert Coin's social media feeds to find out which food trucks were scheduled for which days. There were some tables and chairs clustered near that counter as well as the more active games like DDR for entertainment while you ate. The water fountains and bathrooms were near there as well.

There was also a more enclosed area upstairs, with private rooms for karaoke and private parties, where you could reserve a room and a particular game ahead of time for a few hours. The owner often said that putting in a service elevator had been his smartest investment and a large chunk of the arcade's income came from people setting up soulcalibur tournaments or bringing in their own consoles to take advantage of top of the line projection and sound equipment to game on a screen the size of a wall.

For clients of age they also sold beer and some basic cocktails, though if you spilled you were banned for a month with second offenses earning you a lifetime ban.

Have fun!

((Mod note: The arcade and food trucks will be wholly staffed by NPCs for now so feel free to set future threads here for parties or hang outs. It has any arcade game you want. The areas so far are: Main Arcade, Prize Counter, Food Counter, Karaoke, and Party Rooms. Let us know if you want other areas! Also this isn't leading to plot or anything, we just felt the time was right for a new neutral space and an open thread!))

Vriska's text to hang out with Terezi at the park and to get away from Equius' workshop and home was sent early in the morning giving her plenty of time to get ready and to arrive on time. However, Terezi was feeling more than lazy that morning; she had seen the text and agreed to hang out but after laying around and wandering the hallways of the dorms in her PJs with fellow Skaia students; she had decided to tell Vriska she would be a little late to meet up. It didn't seem to be a problem with Vriska; they would just meet up at the park itself when Terezi was done doing whatever nonsense she wanted to do. Mainly, pester a certain co-leader.

Walking into the park, Terezi followed the path without her long cane in hand. She decided to fly solo for the day. They had a general area where they were going to meet and Terezi had tried contacting Vriska but to no avail. There was a slightly sinking feeling in her gut; a mix of emotions that made it hard to pick which one was ruling over the others. Sniffing the air, it seemed like a relatively normal day at the park. Freshly boiled hot dogs, the variety scents of people, recently cut grass, blood, bile, urine - What the fuck?

The sickening triad of aromas wasn't too far and she didn't have to think twice. Terezi was already running towards the scene. The sounds of agonizing screaming, pitiful crying and anger rang in her ears as her stomach sank even harder. It was like deja vu without it actually being deja vu. It was her vision coming alive. Sollux and Vriska were in danger of each other. No way, it can't be true. Denying the situation didn't help; she had small hints on what she was actually 'seeing'. She was waiting for proof and now it was clear as day. There was no way of changing the outcome; she wasn't even sure how to change the outcome but it didn't matter her friends were in danger

Terezi slowed her steps as she approached the disaster before her. Her hands indistinctly covered her mouth and nose. It seemed as if she was affected by the mere gore of it all but that wasn't the case. She felt like she had a hand in keeping this from happening; she was the one with the insight but she kept quiet. Now, three friends were injured and/or torn apart.

Panic set in, her vision never stated who was at fault; her body moved on it's own as she picked up Vriska under the arms. Her left hand slipped, feeling the pooling blood and missing limb. "Oh fuck," Terezi blurted out, she fumbled with her friend's body. Eyes were welling up but she stayed determined; dragging Vriska away and out of sight of pedestrians. Police would be called, that much blood and a noise disturbance would do that.

When she had found a spot close to one of the entrances of the park; hidden in the bushes. Terezi placed Vriska down gently before going to her phone. She wiped the blood off her hands on her already stained with blood shirt and pants. She wasn't sure to who to call or message but Vriska lived with Equius and that was about as good as it was going to get. She didn't know Vriska had already managed to leave Equius a voice-mail but another message from another person to verify the significance of the situation would help prompt the man on aiding the two.

Now, was not the time to be silly or joking but her panic couldn't let her take the whole thing too seriously or she wouldn't be able to help Vriska or herself. Sending Equius a picture of Vriska would be good enough evidence to show Terezi wasn't joking around. She had sent him other pictures though some a tad blurry from shaking hands but it gave a good picture of where they were hiding. The last thing to do was wait and hope Vriska wasn't going to die. Terezi took off Vriska's shirt in a sad attempt to tie it around the gaping wound where her arm used to be and put pressure on the wound.

"Vriska, can you hear me? Don't you fucking die on me because of this shit. I don't know what happened but rest assured I'm going to get to the bottom of this." Terezi spoke, her volume low enough for only Vriska to hear, if she could hear.

It was the day she was suppose to meet up with Vriska at the park; she had gotten the message less than two hours ago but Terezi was debating on whether or not to arrive on time. Her head was hurting from the recent developments of what she could 'see' but kept dismissing them. There wasn't a logical explanation yet so there wasn't a point to try and hash it out with another person.

Instead, as she laid on her bed in her dorm donning an over-sized shirt, boxers and red dragon slippers, Terezi peered up at her phone above her head. She scrolled through the names on her pesterchum.

She had spammed him without a care in the world. Honestly, she didn't expect Karkat to be into the idea of the Friday night soap party some of the Skaia University boys were planning down the hall on the second floor. Word had traveled fast and Terezi was itching to go to it.

It had been awhile since her spring classes were over and she had a break from school during the summer. She didn't find interest in studying all year long without a break even if it would've helped her get her bachelor's degree quicker. Due to finals and saving the city from mass destruction by giant monsters; Terezi had been slacking on going to her favorite bakery where one of her friends had worked. They hadn't talked much since her last visit and Terezi was ready rectify that.

Stepping into the shop, the bells attached gave a friendly alert to the employees as she entered. Her long cane tapping against the hard tiled floor and she closed her eyes to breath in the fresh baked treats. With her heightened sense, she could tell some of her favorites had just finished coming out of the oven. It wasn't long before turning her head slightly that she could pick up Jane's scent from across the room. Walking over, she smiled, "Jane!" Terezi called out, her pace quickening until approaching the glass case of cookies, cupcakes and pie. "Hey, I survived classes again. What about you?" Her excitement on being able to talk to her friend again had her rushing with topics to discuss. "How were finals?"

It was June 12th, Karkat's birthday. Normally he didn't give much of a shit about birthdays, but with everything that had been going on of late, he honestly needed an excuse to not do homework, hang out with people that he didn't hate, and watch some fucking romcoms. That all sounded good. To relax, for once.

It wasn't going to be anything special. Karkat wasn't even sure who would come if he invited them. He thought of literally just inviting Kanaya, because she could be counted on not to drive him insane normally, but there were a couple of other people that he guessed he would like to show up. Besides, he was supposed to be a leader, sort of, and at this point everyone probably needed a break as much as Karkat did. Karkat was sure that the people who actively hated him wouldn't bother to show up, especially to watch romcoms, so it was probably safe to just get everyone's emails from Terezi and send out a mass email to all the people involved in this crazy gods and monsters shit.

Karkat decided to have it at Kanaya's apartment, because cramming people into his dorm room sounded like a terrible idea. But Kanaya didn't have a TV. So he mentioned in the invite that if anyone had a projector and could bring it, that would be great.

Invitation:

I AM HAVING A GET-TOGETHER ON JUNE 12TH. THE PURPOSE WILL BE TO VIEW ROMANTIC COMEDIES, SO IF THAT BOTHERS YOU, STAY THE FUCK HOME. THE FIRST ONE WE ARE WATCHING IS THE WEDDING SINGER, AND I WILL CHOOSE THE OTHER ONES, BUT IF YOU WANT TO BRING SOME FOR ME TO CONSIDER, THAT'S FINE I GUESS.

IT'LL BE AT KANAYA'S APARTMENT: 600 SUNSET LOVER'S LANE, APT 669. SHE DOESN'T HAVE A TV, SO SOMEONE NEEDS TO BRING A PROJECTOR, EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ONE. ALSO IF YOU WANT FOOD, BRING IT YOURSELF. IT STARTS AT 8 PM.

ALSO IT'S TECHNICALLY MY BIRTHDAY.

-KARKAT VANTAS

At around 7:50 pm, Karkat showed up at Kanaya's house, carrying The Wedding Singer and a couple of other favorites to choose from, as well as a big bag containing some bags of chips and a couple bottles of soda. He made sure to be ten minutes early so that he wouldn't show up second to his own goddamn party. He had no idea how many people would be coming to this, but as long as he got his romcoms and a break from magic drama, he would be satisfied.

After entering the house and greeting Kanaya, Karkat went to sit on the couch and lay out the snacks he brought on the coffee table.

It didn't take long before the cab that the bouncer from Turn Stables hailed arrived. Pulling Vriska up from the curb of the street; she shoved her friend into the back of the car. She had wanted to make sure Vriska returned home safely but she didn't know the address or location. Only that she was living with a man named Equius in his garage; so said Feferi in some manner. Moving herself into the odd smelling vehicle; she nudged Vriska's arm.

"Hey," Trying to get her attention, hoping she wasn't too far gone to give directions. If all else failed, she would smuggle her into Terezi's dorm to sleep there for the night. The bed was big enough for the both of them. By the mere thought and the combination of the drink and the shot left Terezi feeling more than awkward about that sleeping arrangement. By awkward, she meant probably would enjoy it much more than Vriska would realize even if it meant sleeping next to a passed out drunken version of her friend. "Vriska, what's your address? Can you do that?"

The music is loud and the drinks are cheap, the bartenders are friendly and quick, and the bathrooms are actually clean. Turn Stables is one of the top clubs in Sburb, despite the odd horse themed signature beverages and decorations. On a Friday night such as today, it's packed with happy people, crammed onto the brightly lit dance floor and into shady booths, or crowded around the bar. Most are well on their way to being drunk, or are occupied keeping track of their sloppy friends.

There are bouncers watching each entrance carefully and checking IDs, but they can be swayed with a little persuasion.

Dirk is in the DJ booth at the back of the club, his headphones on and his eyes closed behind his shades as he works his way through a set playlist. The door is left open, and patrons are welcome to chat with the DJ or make requests, but there's no guarantee he'll listen.

(( Go ahead and throw your kids in wherever you like, and make top comments as needed ! You are by no means obligated to speak to Dirk ! Go wild and have fun !! Also, this takes place an undetermined time after the battle, so I imagine everyone is mostly recuperated !))

Kanaya hurried through the front door of the Corner Cafe, mindful not to trip on any of the overturned furniture as she picked her way to the break room. There she lay Tavros on the couch, then returned to the service area to take stock of who else had arrived. There was really only enough room to cram about ten people in the back, so she crunched over the glass littering the floor to undo the blinds and allow the group some privacy. The lights had been left on and the cushy booths and chairs called to her, but she knew she should use Fef's energy boost to aid her friends.

It was only once the first aid kit and several cafe menu items had placed on a table that she allowed herself to settle in a booth, head down and tummy growling. It was a shame she'd decided against storing meat in the back fridge.

Karkat found out about the monster attacking near Skaia via a text message sent by the university. After spending several seconds staring dumbstruck at the words "A cyclops is attacking on the outskirts of the university", Karkat snapped to his senses and nearly tumbled over himself on the way to his computer. This time, there was no way in fuck he was going in as unprepared as last time. Also, there was supposed to be a team. Not that they'd had any kind of organization to speak of.

Of course, since he had lost the damn pesterchum handles, he couldn't get in touch with fucking anyone except Kanaya and Terezi. Well, he would text Terezi first, as she was supposed to be the co-leader. Hopefully she would be able to get in touch with more people. As for Kanaya... he wasn't sure. She was powerful, yes, but he was still nervous about her getting too seriously injured again. It was nice to know that he could presumably stop her if the necessity were to arise, but it was still cause for concern. Yet, in all honesty, they probably needed her. And she would most likely find out about the cyclops by herself eventually, anyway. For now, though, he needed to get in touch with Terezi and see how much of a team they could assemble. hands shaking, he opened pesterchum and began to message Terezi.

Kanaya, fresh from her shift at the cafe, was nearly out the door and on her way home when she spotted Terezi sitting at one of the tables. She changed course to greet her friend.

"Hello, Terezi. Whatever creation you are rendering strikes me as indubitably colorful in form and hue may I inquire if it contains a further purpose beyond the exhilaration of the gleeful abandon with which you appear to be illustrating?" She ceased squinting at the scribbles to present her face more clearly to Terezi. "It's Kanaya in case the information provided to you by your senses proves itself erroneous -- I just completed my morning shift."

She towered before Terezi in a dark blue blouse and an orange and blue floor length skirt.

Terezi sat across from Vriska at the Food Court in the mall awaiting their third party member. Terezi hadn't disclosed the identity of Feferi to Vriska for the fact that she didn't seem to think it was necessary. Feferi knew that Vriska was going to be there from a conversation over pesterchat awhile ago. Her friend had made a good point on weapons and how everyone was growing stronger after each group meeting. Terezi had experienced a strange vision that she kept to herself; unsure of how to even talk about the incident and if it held any merit. She knew she was chancing it due to the heaviness of said vision between Vriska and Sollux. Terezi glanced over to her old friend; if what she saw was true then something was going to go down between them.

"So," Terezi spoke up again, they had been casually chatting around random nonsense and gossiping about Feferi's party. "We have to go to 'Critical Hit'; that weapons shop by the North Wing. I want to check out swords." She wiggled her fingers in front of Vriska, "You have to play along that I'm not blind otherwise I don't think they're going to sell it to me. I need your expert opinion on a weapon. I need a cane weapon. One that I could probably repaint to look like a long cane." Terezi snickered, feeling that her plan would go smoothly. She could have access to a long cane and a hidden weapon at the same time. What a bargain.

The main event at the party was a large former wine bottle which had been painted bright pink. It was set up in the middle of the living room, with the couches and tables pushed back so there was space for everyone to gather around who wanted to participate.

To play: Diagram 1 Make a new top level post of your character spinning the bottle. It need be no more complicated than "<Character name> spins the bottle." but feel free to go as complicated as you would like! Each character who is participating gets a maximum of 2 spins and we would prefer that you space your two out.

Please title your post at least "<Character name>" to make readability easier later.

A mod will then use a random number generator to determine which of the participating characters your spin lands on and reply to your post with the result of your spin. If the spin lands on your character, you will receive a direct skype message from said mod to inform you of this, with a link directly to the post.

The character who spun should then make a post of their character kissing the recipient in whatever fashion is most in character for them.

The character who was kissed should then respond.

The reactions can continue for up to three posts each (diagram 2)!

If you wish to continue beyond that please take it to the main party thread or create a new thread!

Participant list based on the survey, meaning your spin could produce any of these results: John, Jade, Rose, Dave, Jane, Jake, Dirk, Aradia, Tavros, Sollux, Karkat, Nepeta, Kanaya, Terezi, Vriska, Eridan, or Feferi!

Ever since she had moved the Striders (forcibly) to their new apartment, she had been looking for an opportunity to throw them a proper housewarming since her attempt to provide them with cake and excitement hadn't quite hit the mark.

Now, after nearly a month, Friday the 13th seemed by FAR the most auspicious day to get her dreams of a celebratory party underway at last.

Invitations had been sent out to everyone Feferi had met who knew about powers, either from SMURG or through serendipity. Bribes, threats, and coercion had been employed to best effect to insure attendance. Catering had been ordered, decorators hired, and the Striders gotten out of the way for the morning to give the professionals time to set up.

Enough food to feed a small army (or pantheon) lay spread across the kitchen counters and dining room table. Extra seating had been strewn about inside and out on the terrace. The invite had promised food, fun, and a hot tub if people were so inclined. The time for the start of the party was 3 pm.

Feferi, resplendent in a short sequin-covered pink dress was ready. Streamers and balloons in red and orange decorated every surface and people should be arriving soon, with valets downstairs to tend to the cars and a red carpet to direct the guests to the elevator, where they would be directed to the 14th floor (as long as they were on the guest list complete with photos.)

It was the day after Terezi had bailed Vriska out of jail and posed as her attorney to help her old friend out. There was a lot going on in Terezi's mind about Vriska's story. There was clear proof that Sollux had managed to evict her from her apartment and now she was only waiting on the bank statement. It seemed to have gone too far if it was only just a physical dispute; sure Vriska could be a nasty troll of a girl but to go to those extreme extents screamed something what up. Red flags flew up throughout Vriska's story. It wasn't that Terezi didn't believe her but she knew where the holes were.

Terezi had sent a message to Sollux the previous night to see if he was available after 3pm when her classes and possibly his classes were done as well. She made a point to tell him that it was going to be a serious conversation and to be prepared for anything. They had never really talked seriously and there was always an element of fun. This time, however, she had a good feeling there wouldn't be too much fun involved.

She sat under a tree at central park; it wasn't far from the main fountain. A notable landmark to help him find her. The brisk spring windy gave a slight chill to the relatively comfortable temperature outside. She wore her favorite bright red dragon hoodie as another marker for Sollux to easily find her. Terezi stretched out her legs that were wrapped in a pair of new black leggings as her last ones were shredded at the ankles. Bringing them back in, she pulled out her sketchbook and began drawing with crayons. They were ideas of what kind of outfit she wanted to wear as her vigilante self. There were already two other pages of other ideas she had gathered from comic book heroes. Especially her favorite one of all.

When Sollux would approach her general area, Terezi picked up on the crunch of grass moving closer towards her. She would look up and smile at her friend; even if he was accused of assault Sollux was still her friend. This was a matter of getting the whole truth and his motives for the crime. "Hey!"

"You get one phone call," the towering, obscenely hairy police officer huffed. "I hope you know a good lawyer, kid. Crocker University takes trespassing VERY seriously." He shuddered a bit, as if remembering some gruesome scene of crimes past, before leading her to the grubby looking public phone.

Vriska swallowed hard. This was more trouble than she'd managed to get herself into in a long time-- and this was the first real legal implications she faced as an adult. She'd always gotten away with things before now, some way or another. There had to be a lucky break on the horizon for her...

She stood there, staring at the dirty old landline, contemplating her options. She could call home-- No. She was never asking that woman for anything ever again, no matter how desperate. She doubted her mother would even bother picking up the phone for that matter.
Aranea would be able to bail her out, she was fairly reliable and Vriska knew she wouldn't be able to resist sticking her nose in her little sister's business. But it'd be several hours of driving before she could show up, and spending the night in a cell wasn't something Vriska particularly relished. Not to mention she'd never hear the end of it if her sister knew.
Nepeta was... friendly, but when it came down to it Vriska just wasn't certain if she could be trusted with this kind of favor. She was fun to hang out with, but this was serious.
