After a series of rather crude events Equius car seats found themselves with a new taint of red, courtesy of a certain Serket girl, and such thing could not stand. Though many would suggest that the best option was to replace the tapestry the man knew that his and the others heroes actions were bound to bring in-depth police investigation if they ever found anything about the vigilantes, and so he opted for a more safe approach.

It took him most of the evening to unscrew and take apart the companion and back seat to take them to the back yard of the shop where he settled them down near a brick wall and doused them in gasoline. Still inside the shop in dire sickness rested Vriska Serket most likely accompanied by Terezi who became a close acquaintance of Equius given the situation, but despite that Equius thought nothing wrong of inviting some people to enjoy what was sure to be a long-lasting fire. He blew on the lit match held in his hand and walked back into the shop to explain the girls his idea and whether or not they would join.

About an hour later Equius had sent a couple of messages, to Nepeta,Feferi, John, Terezis friend Karkat and even Dirk and Dave (He had been informed Sollux was unable to attend) and various others he had met in the last few months inviting them to bring food and drink to his place to enjoy a night long reunion in commemoration and remembrance of all that went past in the few months since the meteor fell. Settled over the soon to be burned seats now hovered various grills held up by metal legs ready for meats and vegetables to be settled on and cooked.

After setting a number of bricks and lawn chairs around the pire along with a couple of metal work tables for drinks and food to be settled on Equius let out a heavy sigh and waited for those who confirmed and those who would come but not felt like responding to his memo. Regardless of people, the seats would be cremated, luckily the dark stains of blood were mostly hidden by the thick wetness of the fire accelerators.

Vriska's text to hang out with Terezi at the park and to get away from Equius' workshop and home was sent early in the morning giving her plenty of time to get ready and to arrive on time. However, Terezi was feeling more than lazy that morning; she had seen the text and agreed to hang out but after laying around and wandering the hallways of the dorms in her PJs with fellow Skaia students; she had decided to tell Vriska she would be a little late to meet up. It didn't seem to be a problem with Vriska; they would just meet up at the park itself when Terezi was done doing whatever nonsense she wanted to do. Mainly, pester a certain co-leader.

Walking into the park, Terezi followed the path without her long cane in hand. She decided to fly solo for the day. They had a general area where they were going to meet and Terezi had tried contacting Vriska but to no avail. There was a slightly sinking feeling in her gut; a mix of emotions that made it hard to pick which one was ruling over the others. Sniffing the air, it seemed like a relatively normal day at the park. Freshly boiled hot dogs, the variety scents of people, recently cut grass, blood, bile, urine - What the fuck?

The sickening triad of aromas wasn't too far and she didn't have to think twice. Terezi was already running towards the scene. The sounds of agonizing screaming, pitiful crying and anger rang in her ears as her stomach sank even harder. It was like deja vu without it actually being deja vu. It was her vision coming alive. Sollux and Vriska were in danger of each other. No way, it can't be true. Denying the situation didn't help; she had small hints on what she was actually 'seeing'. She was waiting for proof and now it was clear as day. There was no way of changing the outcome; she wasn't even sure how to change the outcome but it didn't matter her friends were in danger

Terezi slowed her steps as she approached the disaster before her. Her hands indistinctly covered her mouth and nose. It seemed as if she was affected by the mere gore of it all but that wasn't the case. She felt like she had a hand in keeping this from happening; she was the one with the insight but she kept quiet. Now, three friends were injured and/or torn apart.

Panic set in, her vision never stated who was at fault; her body moved on it's own as she picked up Vriska under the arms. Her left hand slipped, feeling the pooling blood and missing limb. "Oh fuck," Terezi blurted out, she fumbled with her friend's body. Eyes were welling up but she stayed determined; dragging Vriska away and out of sight of pedestrians. Police would be called, that much blood and a noise disturbance would do that.

When she had found a spot close to one of the entrances of the park; hidden in the bushes. Terezi placed Vriska down gently before going to her phone. She wiped the blood off her hands on her already stained with blood shirt and pants. She wasn't sure to who to call or message but Vriska lived with Equius and that was about as good as it was going to get. She didn't know Vriska had already managed to leave Equius a voice-mail but another message from another person to verify the significance of the situation would help prompt the man on aiding the two.

Now, was not the time to be silly or joking but her panic couldn't let her take the whole thing too seriously or she wouldn't be able to help Vriska or herself. Sending Equius a picture of Vriska would be good enough evidence to show Terezi wasn't joking around. She had sent him other pictures though some a tad blurry from shaking hands but it gave a good picture of where they were hiding. The last thing to do was wait and hope Vriska wasn't going to die. Terezi took off Vriska's shirt in a sad attempt to tie it around the gaping wound where her arm used to be and put pressure on the wound.

"Vriska, can you hear me? Don't you fucking die on me because of this shit. I don't know what happened but rest assured I'm going to get to the bottom of this." Terezi spoke, her volume low enough for only Vriska to hear, if she could hear.

It had been a few weeks since Vriska moved into Equius's spare room, and she'd made herself quite at home in the short amount of time. A few boxes still sat unpacked, her belongings scattered around on the floor around her mattress. Eventually she'd set up the rails and get it off the floor... probably.

Vriska's stomach growled; she'd have to leave the quiet comfort of her messy habitat for a different kind of mess if she wanted to eat. Luckily for her, Equius had yet to protest her picking at what little edible food he kept in the refrigerator. Pushing herself off the mattress and onto the floor with a small thunk Vriska rolled herself lazily across the floor over laundry speed bumps until her back hit the door. Did she really have to get up? Her stomach growled again, confirming her worst fears: she had to get off the floor.

The door creaked open and Vriska was immediately met with the echo of energetic kick drums and the scent of motor oil-soaked gym rat. Vile. Vriska tucked her nose under the collar of her shirt and crept into the hallway, wondering what her roommate was getting up to about now. What time was it, anyway? Since the shoe store was destroyed and Vriska had no reason to keep anything resembling a steady sleep schedule Vriska had somewhat lost touch with the concept of time. The sun was up, that much was apparent.

Hmmmmmmmm... Vriska made her way into the kitchen quietly, opening the fridge to peer hopelessly at its contents for several minutes on end. Maybe if she looked long enough something actually edible would appear.

You fought hard. You fought bravely. And no matter which part of town you started on, now you're standing here, in the park, with two staggeringly tall pillars of light and dark before you.

You aren't alone, though, and for now at least, there is a moment of peace. Across the lawn, you'll spot another set of heroes, looking as tired and broken as you feel.

Maybe you guys should exchange notes.

((OOC: We'll be using this thread for battle three as well, so please keep all of your pre-battle mingling under the Round 0 top-level, for organizational purposes. Also, in-RP, battle three will be taking place ten-fifteen minutes after the battle 2 victory, so while there's some time to relax, you won't have time to RP out hours worth of interaction.))

If you turn on the news at all this afternoon, you might notice that the entire city is in a state of straight up panic. The news reporters are frantically trying to find the proper words to say "A massive cyclops monster has emerged next to Crocker University and it is heading north."

Perhaps, if you're close enough, you'll hear the thing's massive footsteps as it cracks pavement and sends good town citizens screaming and running for cover.

Or perhaps you're listening into the police radio somehow, hearing their attempts to harm the thing go entirely to waste. Clearly, they aren't cut out to face giant monsters - that's up to somebody else.

It's time to shine, heroes!

((OOC Notes: First off, a reminder that if you participate in this battle, you will NOT be able to participate in the second battle, which will happen from the 27th-31st. Pick whichever one works best with your schedule.

Secondly, we are going to try a new battle format for this series of battles. Multiple attacks from multiple characters can be launched at once rather than needed to wait for a monster response between each attack. The way this will work is that you will make a direct reply to the most recent monster post, detailing your character's attack - do NOT reply anybody else's attacks. For now, this means you can also launch consecutive attacks, though there may be instances in which your character will have to sit out a round due to damages; we'll let you know if this happens.

Here's a concrete example of what a battle thread may look like.

At the end of this event, we'll try and get a sense about how you guys like this new battle method. We're hoping this will streamline battles a bit more and give everybody a shot at the action!))

Ever since she had moved the Striders (forcibly) to their new apartment, she had been looking for an opportunity to throw them a proper housewarming since her attempt to provide them with cake and excitement hadn't quite hit the mark.

Now, after nearly a month, Friday the 13th seemed by FAR the most auspicious day to get her dreams of a celebratory party underway at last.

Invitations had been sent out to everyone Feferi had met who knew about powers, either from SMURG or through serendipity. Bribes, threats, and coercion had been employed to best effect to insure attendance. Catering had been ordered, decorators hired, and the Striders gotten out of the way for the morning to give the professionals time to set up.

Enough food to feed a small army (or pantheon) lay spread across the kitchen counters and dining room table. Extra seating had been strewn about inside and out on the terrace. The invite had promised food, fun, and a hot tub if people were so inclined. The time for the start of the party was 3 pm.

Feferi, resplendent in a short sequin-covered pink dress was ready. Streamers and balloons in red and orange decorated every surface and people should be arriving soon, with valets downstairs to tend to the cars and a red carpet to direct the guests to the elevator, where they would be directed to the 14th floor (as long as they were on the guest list complete with photos.)

((MOD NOTE: For spin the bottle, go HERE. This thread is for general mingling and reactions. Feel free to make top comments as needed!))

Having packed the most of her belongings into designated boxes and with only a few hours left to "VACATE THE PREMISES" before "LEGAL ACTION" would be taken, Vriska decided now was the opportune moment to enlist some help in the Immediate Apartment Scramble(TM)

Nepeta was stronger than she looked and Vriska knew this; her petite athletic friend would be much needed man-power in moving all this crap. Especially in the state she'd found herself in after her recent encounter with the 8eefucker. Her knuckles were left bruised-- she'd managed to get in at least one good lick before... whatever that was that he did. And what he did had left most of her chest with second degree burns, very painful and very gross looking burns. Luckily her shirt hid her gingerly bandaged injuries.

"Whatever he is, whatever he did to me... I'm going to get him back for this," Vriska spoke to herself out loud, having lost her original train of thought. She quickly remembered the task at hand though.

Vriska rummaged around for her phone, finding it under one of many, many boxes labelled "Nic Cage memorabilia" in messy, looping blue marker.

Are you 8usy?
Of course you're not. And if you are, this is waaaaaaaay more important.
I need your help.
We're HUNTING... For a new apartment.
I'm getting kicked out and I need someone to help me move ASAP.
I need you to 8e here as soon as you can.
Text me 8ack when you see this.

Vriska sent the message to her frisky friend before tacking on an additional text.

Oh, and 8y the way...
Do you know of any cheap apartments in town? Like, literally ANYTHING that isn't a total dump will do.

Vriska continued packing while she waited for Nepeta's answer.

Bag packed with her sketchbook, raw meat, and grapes, Kanaya found herself ready for the journey to the park. The walk from her new place was a bit longer than before, so even though she lingered while choosing a workout outfit -- a simple white shirt and roomy ankle-length red skirt -- she overshot the timing and arrived nearly twenty minutes early.

She tucked herself beneath a tree near the upbeat dance class, pulling out her sketchbook. The wispy hair, flabby arms, and neon leotards would serve as good drawing subjects and an easy-to-follow beacon for her fellow superpowered peers to home in on.

Sometimes when you fall asleep at night, instead of dreaming normally, you wake up in a strange place, with dark skies and foreboding purple towers. Mysterious figures with ebony-black shells scuttle along the streets and look at you curiously as you float by. They never hurt you, but you get the feeling that they want to, sometimes.

At the very least, there are other humans who dream here. Maybe you know them already; maybe they're just figures from your dreams. Maybe they're friends, maybe they're foes. Either way, you're free to talk to them at night. The adventures presented here are seemingly limitless, but directionless.

No matter what you've on in Derse on the past, on April 13th at 4:13 AM, you are asleep. Perhaps you were already asleep, or perhaps you suddenly collapsed over some homework or a late night project. Either way, you awake in your other bedroom, and a royal carapacian guard is standing there, waiting for you.

You have a summons from the Queen.

As spring finally begins to take hold of Sburb City, melting away the lingering traces of snow, there seems to be a shift. A change in the energies, if you will. You can feel that something is different, even if you can't put your finger on what.

Better keep your eyes on the news. Something could happen.

((OOC: Each "battle" will take place under its own top level post. There will be IRL time limits for participation, and you cannot participate in consecutive battles, so we're encouraging small groups or pairs rather than huge ensemble battles this time. Check in with chat when you're about to launch an attack to make sure we keep things straight!))

Princess Bride

Flyers had been up around the city for weeks announcing that the seasonal movie night was coming now that things were warming up. When spring came, the city hosted monthly community movie night's in the large park, bringing in a massive projection screen and scattering speakers throughout a wide open area where people could set up their own chairs or blankets and watch a movie in peace. Food trucks parked nearby, lit by floodlights and lines began to form as the sun set and people staked out their places.

A crisp breeze tousled hair and made the large projection screen sway slightly, rustling leaves and making people who hadn't worn enough layers shiver. Spring had sprung, but a breath of winter still lingered in the air.

Despite the slight chill, the atmosphere was festive, the movie a classic. Some months they went with horror or romance, with age restrictions placed at times but to kick off the season the city was hosting the Princess Bride, complete with romance, pirates, danger, ROUSes, everything you could want.

Security was slightly heightened, with a larger police presence than usual in the wake of the rumors flying around about wild animal attacks, but for the most part people were calm, relaxed, and ready for a free evening of municipal fun as the dark deepened.

The speakers crackled into life. "THE SHOW WILL BEGIN IN FIVE MINUTES," they announced from all directions, all of the nearby lamps flicking off and then back on to alert the oblivious to the fact that they should wrap up their food-buying and get back to their staked out places before the lights went off in earnest and the movie began.

Just as the fight had ended with the wolves escaping; the police had shown up and taken the statements of those who were outside and saw what had happened. While the police were doing their work; Terezi had an idea of her own. This wasn't a normal situation and she didn't feel like leaving it up to the police this time. There was something deeper going on and something strange and she was going to stick her nose right into it. But first, she needed to gather everyone who fought or were around to see what the heck was going on.

Thanks to the help of a nice officer, she was able to get her heels back. She didn't wear them, they would only hurt more after she had been running around on the hard pavement. From strangers she had just met at the speed dating to her two friends; she told everyone to go back into the cafe after the police left. There was a secret group meeting about to unfold, she stated in a playfully serious tone.

Terezi entered the cafe and stood behind the register counter to overlook the tables in front of her. Her nose was picking up on the strong scent of vanilla, marshmallows, cherries and other various red fruit. It was so much to take it; she shook her head but that did nothing but a minor headache. "Damn it." She uttered.

She sniffed the air, each person had a particular scent to them. It was hard to tell who was who but once there were no more new smells she decided court was now in session. Raising her cane in the air she banged it three times on the counter. She would hear from Nepeta later on her reckless tactic for attention. "Everyone listen up! First meeting of the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild will now commence. I am now your official leader, prosecutor and judge. If you forgot my name or we haven't met I'm Terezi. I'm perfectly qualified for this position because let's be real: most of you weenies were probably going to run after the cops left. Too bad!" She cackled, "We're going to discuss what the Hell happened out there. Why were wolves in broad city daylight? It makes no sense, sure we're destroying their ecosystem but surely they wouldn't be prepared for a mutiny against humanity like this?!"

His hand tapped the hood of the trunk before the red painted vehicle and a hand waved goodbye to him, a professional smile quickly melting from his face when he huffed due to the heat. His blue eyes behind the dark plastic of his glasses moving up as his head titled back to stare at the cloudless sky, weeks after the meteor crash and everything looked normal but nothing felt right.

Days after the "incident" everything started to feel off, Equius felt disconnected from the physical world and that was in fact his favorite world, he felt like his body was inches away from his mind and each passing day only seemed to accentuate the sensation so it felt great when he was able to utilize his hard earned strength for even the most mundane of activities, even pushing a flat tired car around excited him.

Due to this he had rushed much of his job ,keeping his trademark quality level, leaving him now with nothing to do but stare absently at the clear blue sky for a couple of minutes contemplating the vastness of it all. All you ask? All that can be seen and not seen, all that can be felt and not felt, all that can be and all that can be somewhere else because there isn't something that can not be. This thoughts stale in his mind like the sweat on his brow before he snaps back to reality and turns to enter his shop.

The "Currus Tranquillus" Was another coal chunk in the vastness of the industrial part of the city, another abandoned building that was lucky enough to look shitty enough to pick Equius interest, A couple of extra franklins got the man the papers faster than anyone else and a couple of days got a business rolling down a seemingness slope that got the strangers name around. Some stands containing car parts, walls covered in wheels for days, oils and deodorants, some posters detailing the anatomy of a 2007 Honda acora (often mocked by the costumers used to pin up posters), a counter and waiting chairs.

Seeing how he had a moment to waste time Equius set himself on the wooden chair behind the counter, his right hand reaching under it and setting a small plate of the top of a glass of somewhat cold milk before taking the receptacle to his cracked lips. A content sigh left his mouth after a couple of gulps and his eyes set on the three high definition monitors also under the counter, all of them connected to webcams set inside and outside the building set to record everything going on, most of the tapes reviewed in the weekends for any strange bans or lingering people passing by. He wasn't really thinking about the cameras, but rather distracting his eyes while his mind scrounged for any rhyme or reason for the odd feeling of... Emptiness he felt inside and around him.

Roxy huffed as she sat on a Batman themed stool behind the counter of "Geek Grotto", her place of work. The store seemed to be on the dead side today. She popped her gum and tapped at the keys of her pink 3DS, controlling her Animal Crossing character. Little anime and cat charms tinkled as she moved, momentarily distracting her.
"Having someone come in would be really great right about now. Or like 10 people. Man I'd even take a neck beard" Roxy grumbled.

It had been only a few short days since the meteor crashed down in Central Park, but it felt like much longer to Nepeta, who had been having trouble keeping her mind on task. Her focus had shifted from more important matters, like work and school, to idle daydreams about love, loss, and friendship, and ideas to use in rp’s with her friends. It was was unsettling, since she had already spent much of her time doing those activities before. What was more unsettling was how familiar that man in the cafe the had been the other day. She couldn't stop thinking of him either. He was just so eerily familiar, but try as she might, she couldn’t place his face in her memories.

The room was dark, but despite the multitude of stuffed animals, blankets, and one of her cats dozing happily on her stomach, all of which assured her comfort, but her mind still seemed to spin with thoughts from the day. She closed her eyes and tried to will herself asleep, until it finally took hold of her.

She awoke to the same room she had fallen asleep in, but painted with deep greens and accents of dull gold. She’d had this dream before… The canopy bed in the tall tower, with its many, colorful rooms, and the second tower, barely visible on the other side of the city. She moved to the nearest window and looked down at the the stretch of lavender, violet, and amethyst buildings between them. Below in the streets, the little crab people went about their lives, scurrying about like ants on a sidewalk.

“It must be so simpawl be one of them.”

You hear about it on the radio, stuck in traffic on the way to work. You glimpse it written in big, bold type on the stacks of newspapers on the street corners as you dash past, late to school. You hear about it from the man who’s always on the corner of 5th and Greenwood, yelling that the end is near with his wooden sign and trashbag cape. Maybe, if you’re unlucky, you hear about it from the too-chatty boy in front of you in the never-ending Starbucks line. Or maybe you don’t hear about it until it’s too late, days after when you won’t even make the connection between the events that happened then, and the events that are happening now.

If you know, you know this is what happens: A meteor streaks across the night sky for weeks. Everyone sees it coming, burning white on dark blue until it’s so close and so bright you can see it in the day. Maybe you try to make a wish on it, or maybe you mock someone who does, or perhaps you realize wishing on meteors is nothing but nonsensical superstition, but when it’s the size of a quarter in the sky above your city you are well aware that is is not good luck at all.

But it is happening, and there is quite simply, nothing anyone can do to stop it. Superman will not fly up and punch it into pieces, there will be no plan to divert its course with magnets, not enough muscle to pick the earth up and push it somewhere else.

Fortunately --not necessarily for you, though definitely for the human race and at least three other species of earth-dwelling creatures including a rare but ecologically important species of boll-weevil -- it lands right in the middle of your city’s large, centrally located park. It crushes three trees, scares a flock of ducks, and two elderly bicyclists. It also completely destroys a large, unsightly piece of modern art made by a not-very well-liked local artist.

It sits there smoking in the grass, and it’s cordoned off with yellow police tape and surrounded by legions of police and scientists and one crying artist and the man from 5th and Greenwood, who seems notably calmer now that the end has actually come.

First, there is silence. Then there is the awed murmuring of a voyeuristic crowd. About two hours and twenty minutes later, it has lost all novelty, and the city bounces back fast.

By noon the morning of the meteor collision you’re back on your way to work, or school, or the Starbucks where you’ll do your damndest to avoid the too-chatty boy who’s always in front of you in line.

By 4:13pm, the meteor has cracked open. Like a huge, ugly egg, it splits down the top in a ragged uneven line. You hear about that because wherever you are, the TV monitors perched high in the corner of the room have been broadcasting live from the park all day.

Nothing comes out except smoke, but you.

You’re starting to feel strange.

It just so happens that today your life is about to change. Maybe you won’t notice. Maybe you won’t connect the changes to what happened today. But today is definitely, definitively, and completely the day your life changes forever.

What will you do?
