Something Massive This Way Comes | Crocker Univeristy
If you turn on the news at all this afternoon, you might notice that the entire city is in a state of straight up panic. The news reporters are frantically trying to find the proper words to say "A massive cyclops monster has emerged next to Crocker University and it is heading north."
Perhaps, if you're close enough, you'll hear the thing's massive footsteps as it cracks pavement and sends good town citizens screaming and running for cover.
Or perhaps you're listening into the police radio somehow, hearing their attempts to harm the thing go entirely to waste. Clearly, they aren't cut out to face giant monsters - that's up to somebody else.
It's time to shine, heroes!
((OOC Notes: First off, a reminder that if you participate in this battle, you will NOT be able to participate in the second battle, which will happen from the 27th-31st. Pick whichever one works best with your schedule.
Secondly, we are going to try a new battle format for this series of battles. Multiple attacks from multiple characters can be launched at once rather than needed to wait for a monster response between each attack. The way this will work is that you will make a direct reply to the most recent monster post, detailing your character's attack - do NOT reply anybody else's attacks. For now, this means you can also launch consecutive attacks, though there may be instances in which your character will have to sit out a round due to damages; we'll let you know if this happens.
Here's a concrete example of what a battle thread may look like.
At the end of this event, we'll try and get a sense about how you guys like this new battle method. We're hoping this will streamline battles a bit more and give everybody a shot at the action!))

ROUND 1
For now, it ignores the pathetic attempts of the police to try and slow its progress through the city, swatting them to the side like they're nothing more than flies. It doesn't seem openly aggressive, but its causing too much damage to let it go unhindered.
Somebody needs to stop it!
Feferi: Strife
Now clad in pink and black in attire that looked more like traditional superhero garb than she had ever considered before, Feferi stomped on the gas, rear tires fishtailing for traction as she followed the news reports, trying to get around the traffic blockades and panicky fleeing cars. "Motorcycle," she murmured to herself, hissing in irritation as another cross street full of gridlocked cars prevented her approach.
She slowed as she finally reached the pathway of the thing, marked by cracked footsteps in the concrete and swaths of destruction that made everything feel more surreal. This was the sort of stuff that happened in movies.. not reality.
On the plus, everyone else seemed to be driving away now and it was easier to get closer. She pulled her pink car into a metered spot after looking around for cameras, zipping her keys into the inside pouch of her wet suit. Feferi tried to think while her mind raced, then pulled out her phone.
Fef considered, then sent Eridan a quick text too. She might still be annoyed with him, but he'd be the most hurt if she charged in again without telling him.
Grinning, she tossed her phone back into her trunk and pulled out the mask she had cut hurriedly out of her pants when they were the sturdiest material available. Humming to herself, she tied it carefully around her head, knotting it under her hair and using a number of bobby pins to secure it in her mane to prevent it sliding around and becoming a blindfold.
Fef inhaled deeply and pulled her new javelin out of her trunk, screwing the two halves together. She really needed to purchase some sort of portable armory. She felt woefully underequipped for facing a monster solo. Still, you couldn't expect the police to handle 15 foot tall shambling monsters. This was a task for gods.
She shut and locked her car then took off in pursuit, following the trail of downed traffic lights and cracked concrete.
Feferi was slow, but the enemy was slower. She had parked close enough that catching up wasn't so hard, even on her short legs. She paused, staring at the back of the monster she had come to face and beginning to wish she had brought some backup. Remembering SMURG, however, she couldn't bring herself to drag any of the inexperienced into the fray. The wolves had been frightening, the imps irritating, but this... this was dangerous.
She gritted her teeth and focused. With a sound like a cork popping out of a champagne bottle, a nearby fire hydrant popped, shooting out a stream of water. Feferi gripped her javelin and concentrated on the spray. It reared up like an eel ready to strike and slammed down onto the back of the massive thing's head and neck, hoping to knock it forward. Sure it wasn't particularly honorable to strike one's opponent from behind, but this was a 15 foot black shelled behemoth. She'd hit wherever and whenever she could.
Sollux: Attack
Then a giant cyclops rounded the corner, and he shoved the mask over his head and suppressed a cheer as the dread in his gut exploded into relief. Sollux ran towards the monster, pumping an excited fist in the air briefly.
He ran out of breath about twenty feet in and decided to wait for the monster.
When it was close enough that he was sure he could hit it, ten feet away and getting closer every second, Sollux removed his glasses, stared directly at its crotch, and blasted it with his eyes as hard as he could.
Dirk: Strife
He shoved his half finished phone into his pocket and flashstepped into the living room to grab his katana and Dave's sword off the wall. He shouted to Dave to let him know what was going on, and that he was leaving to help Feferi. (He didn't want Dave to join, but knowing his brother, he'd be in the middle of the battle shortly, whether or not Dirk waited around for him.) It didn't occur to Dirk to change or put on any sort of uniform.
He handed Dave's sword to him, and the two of them ran outside and piled into Dirk's car. He drove quickly, swerving around the other traffic and breaking several laws in the process. He parked a few blocks away and hopped out of the car, flash stepping the rest of the way to the monster.
Using his new power would have left him feeling tired, but the adrenaline rush of battle kicked in and he hardly noticed the fatigue. (His shoes, however, were not so lucky, and were already starting to smoke.)
He spotted Feferi and Sollux already engaging the creature, but he didn't stop to greet them. Instead, he rushed in toward the things legs, aiming slashes of his sword at it's massive ankles.
Dave: Strife
Since his conversations with Terezi, he'd been thinking about a superhero costume. Not one for spandex, he'd been thinking of alternatives. For the moment, all he'd got lying around was a red bandana which he took a moment to tie around the lower half of his face. At the last second he slipped on a black hoodie and yanked the hood up to hide his hair. He didn't want the cops coming around looking for someone by his description and this was all he had for the moment.
In the living room, he had to keep from flinching when his sword was handed to him. It was more of a greek-style sword compared to the curved katana his brother favoured. He hadn't handled the thing in years, aside from putting it up on the wall, and it reminded him of "training" on the roof. Once the hilt was in his palm, however, it felt almost uncomfortably natural. Setting it on his hip, he wordlessly trailed after his brother to the car.
The drive was stressful and he shouted at his brother a few times for his speeding and erratic turns and, "Damn it, Dirk, cars have signals for a reason!" Out of the car it was hard for him to keep up with his brother thanks to his super speed. He did his best, glad for the fact that he kept up his endurance training.
Then the creature came into view. It was definitely not a simple wolf. Several times larger than the beast he'd faced before, it lumbered through and shook the ground with each step. Managing to not panic (again thanking his training), he evaluated the situation quickly and dove headlong in.
The other three were engaging it on the lower level so he looked for a way to get higher up. The beast was near enough a tree to use it but not close enough that he was going to knock it down. Dave paused time, counting the seconds from his perspective to see how long he can manage it, and ran for the tree. Two quick steps up the trunk and he was able to reach a low hanging branch then swung his legs up to a higher one. He was up to about 15 seconds, his previous maximum, when he got to a high enough branch and leapt.
Time began again as he landed heavily on the monster's back, arms partially around it's near non-existent excuse for a neck. Damn, the skin seemed to be thick. He hoped he could get his sword through it. He attempted to get a better hold and climb onto its shoulder and somewhere along the way realized that maybe the Legolas route wasn't the best idea. Instead he deigned to unsheathe his sword, slicing it down the monsters back as he slid to the ground. Hitting the ground he tucked and rolled backward to avoid twisting his ankle.
ROUND 2
The giclops snarled and aimed a swinging kick at Dirk, but his speed served him well and the massive foot missed. The kick ended when it slammed into an empty newspaper rack, tearing it from its moorings. The rack rocketed toward Sollux and crashed into him hard, knocking him down and pinning him (for a turn) under its twisted metal until he can wriggle out. He is bruised and winded. Seeing the success of its unintentional projectile on Sollux, it ripped a streetlight off of the nearby signal pole and hurled it at Feferi like a shotput. It caught her squarely and knocked her back. She could take a few more hits like that but not many. The giclops ripped the dangling street sign off of the mangled pole and hurled it at Dave. It spun and slapped into him, bruising him a bit, but not doing much damage.
Sollux: Try and Get Up
Eventually he made it out, panting, and looked around to get a sense of the fight that he'd been ignoring.
Dave: Check on the laser guy
Feferi: Strife
She gritted her teeth and the puddles streamed back to her, though the soaked in water stayed where it was. Fortunately for her (and unfortunately for emergency services), the hydrant continued to gush water behind her. Feferi gripped her javelin tighter as she pulled as much water as she could hold into a compact sphere floating by her right shoulder, then reshaped it into a high pressure stream and blasted it directly at the giclops' torso.
Fef snarled as she focused on pounding away at the thing. She knew water could cut diamonds and was hoping to slice into the monster if she could only keep the pressure high enough. "Natural... process.... of...... erosion...." she growled through gritted teeth as her sphere shrank and the powerful blast died down to a trickle.
Dirk: Strife
ROUND 3
It's tiny eye glared hatefully at the heroes and it ripped up the rest of the traffic signal and hurled the entire hunk of metal and clinging concrete at the pair of them. It crashed into the street in front of them, spraying them both with torn up cement and chunks of debris and a cloud of dust. The giclops turned as the call of its purpose reasserted itself. Despite the smoke still rising from its pitch black skin, it ignored the downed hero and the other aggressors and took off in a lope, shaking the ground and buildings as it resumes its journey north, knocking trees and cars aside when they get in its way.
Sollux: Stand Up and Attack
He glared at the newspaper rack through slightly bleary eyes, reaching out a hand for better mental control as he picked it up with his telekinesis. Red and blue sparked off of silver metal as Sollux flung it as hard as he could at the giclops' ankle.
Dirk: Pursue
He darted between the things legs, slashing at the wounds he'd already left on it's ankles. He skidded to a halt in front of the monster and quickly turned around, running back between it's legs and this time aiming heavy blows at the back of it's knees. He was aiming to take out it's legs so it couldn't continue rampaging through the streets.
Feferi: Panic Briefly
She adored Dirk, but him appearing on her currently deaf side had rattled her, and the crackle of electricity and the monster's reaction hadn't helped. Feferi wrapped her left arm around around her stomach, rubbing her left shoulder with her right hand. The feeling had returned to her arm at least, but the memory of the lightning strike was still too fresh.
"Not panicking not panicking not panicking," she murmured to herself, dropping into a crouch and hugging her stomach.
Dave: Mother everyone
Feferi: Not Panicking
Dave: Shoosh pap
Aradia: Strife
She stopped behind the others in the self-named SMURG coalition. The one in the pink jumpsuit had to be Feferi. That seemed to be her signature color. She recognized the taller boy as the one she had kissed at the party, Dirk. The other, with the red bandana had to be Dave then. At least these were individuals she was somewhat familiar with. Taking their cue of hiding their faces, she pulled her red scarf higher around the bottom of her face.
Observing the situation, Aradia remembered how she had been able to levitate items while talking to Sollux a while back. Certainly this would be much bigger, but she had people to protect now, even if Feferi and Co. were not necessarily close to her. Channeling all of her anger and focus, she put an arm out in front of her. She could visualize what she wanted to happen. She could see the chunk of metal and concrete, what she could only presume to be a previously standing traffic signal. floating from where it had landed and soaring towards the monster. She didn't notice her eyes starting to glow white as the perviously thrown wreckage soared back towards t he monster.
ROUND 4
With a roar of fury it hurled Dirk away from itself. The force of it dislocated his shoulder with a sickening pop and then he was flying through the air. He hit the street some yards away and skidded, one arm out of commission.
It staggered to its feet to continue its northward trek and managed a few more steps before Aradia's levitated debris smashed into it. It lurched and picked up the traffic signal like a club, using it to hit a mailbox at her before it took off running, still carrying the much-crumpled traffic signal as it fled north. The mailbox caught in her telekinetic field and halted before it hit her.
Dirk: shit fuck goddamn
He bit his cheek hard to keep himself from crying out as he felt his shoulder pop out of place. He tried to turn his body so his injured shoulder didn't take the brunt of the fall, but it didn't do much good. This time he did cry out as he hit the pavement and the pain momentarily whited out his vision.
He lay on his back on the ground, not moving, breathing hard through his nose. His arm was limp and useless at his side. He didn't know where his sword had ended up. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Luckily, he hadn't hit his head, and the giclops didn't seem interested in coming back for more. But, fuck, he tasted blood.
He squeezed his eyes shut tightly and continued to breathe, trying to calm his heart rate before he had a panic attack on top of everything else.
Fuck, he hoped Dave was okay.
Dave: PANIC
"NO!" he shouted, immediately feeling the air around him start to sizzle. You would have been there to help if you hadn't stayed behind, a whisper in the back of his mind told him. He didn't give it much thought, instead all his fear and anger boiling to a point. Skidding to a stop, he extended his right hand and focused the inferno burning in him to his palm. A ball of flame grew against his hand, singeing the sleeve of his hoodie, roiling and building until it was about the size of his head. Then he pushed, shooting the blast at the monster's chest.
Feferi: Definitely Need a Motorcycle
She arrived in time to see Dave shoot a white-hot ball of fire at the towering thing and leaned forward even more to close the last gap between herself and the combatants. She made a mental note to investigate faster means of transport than her personal horsepower (more like ponypower really) and sprinted the last few yards to Dave's side and using her power to pop another hydrant to facilitate her next attack.
Aradia: embrace the fact that this has become the new normal
Dirk's cry brought her back to her senses. They were in a middle of a battle. And as the super-powered individuals they had become, it only seemed that they were meant to save the city. And right now, one of the fighters was lying in the road. That would probably not be good. Taking a moment from pursuing the giclops, she rushed over to where he was lying, letting the mailbox clatter to the ground as gravity took over. Within a step, she was at his side. Well that kind of quick travel Catching his mumbled words, she knew exactly what his priority was. "it appears that dave is certainly safe for the moment. i feel like he would appreciate knowing you are likewise safe." Without a hesitation, she slid an arm under his back, hefting him up bridal style and taking another step, concentrating on an under-hang on the sidewalk. This seemed much safer than the road, at least for the time being. She was careful setting him down, trying not to cause him too much pain. "you should stay here for the time being. i do not think that dave would appreciate you getting hurt any more. i will find them and make sure to let them know the situation."
She stepped out from below the under-hang, hoping that Dirk would have the common sense to stay still until they were able to get the medical specialists out to check him entirely. She didn't know if anyone had healing powers, at least no one thought they did while at the meeting in the park. She couldn't see where the others had went, but couldn't miss the trail of destruction They had definitely gone north. For some reason, Aradia remembered being able to fly in the dream world, whatever planet that may be. Certainly that was worth a try. Within seconds she was soaring up into the sky and after the creature.
Dirk: Lie here and be miserable
ROUND 5
Any hopes that they had claimed victory however were soon dashed as the massive thing clambered clumsily to its feet, shedding chunks of concrete as it rose, its eye bloodshot and livid.
The heroes had worn it down somewhat and its dark hide now showed cracks and scorch marks and streaks of cement dust and dried trickles of ichor.
It hefted a chunk of street from the crater its fall had left and hurtled it bad-temperedly at Dave with deceptive speed, managing to clip his arm despite his prodigious dodging abilities. More bruises to add atop those he already had, plus the growing exhaustion from using his powers. He was nearing the end of his strength.
Dave: Abscond temporarily
Pick up your feet, lil' man.
Obeying the whisper in his mind, he stood. Instead of running towards the monster, however, he doubled back and headed to where he'd seen his brother fall. A spike of panic hit him when he saw he was gone, but spotted him further off.
Skidding to the ground on his knees, a hand went to Dirk's (non-injured) shoulder. "Dirk!" he said, relieved to see him awake. "Are you okay? What's hurt?"
Dirk: Continue to lie here and be miserable
Re: ROUND 5
Imagining the monster motionless seemed easy at this point. It was clear that this thing would take a lot more work before bringing it down. The least she could do was try to slow it down a little.Taking all of her focus, she hovered in the air and tried to trap the monster in its tracks. She didn't have anything powerful like elemental abilities or lazar eye beams, but she had at least done this before. This could set up any other attacks, and keep the destruction at bay for a little while.
Eridan: Grow up and show up
ROUND 6
Eridan charged onto the scene, Aradia's freeze buying him enough time to line up a shot on a barely moving opponent. He would have several long seconds of doubt as the bullet hit and nothing seemed to happen, but soon the monster rejoined the regular flow of time and the wet sound of the hit could be heard.
The giclops howled, its massive lungs providing a deep bass rumble that shook windows and rattled debris as it clapped massive hands to its face. Milky ichor dripped down its cheeks like viscous tears as it glared its baleful hatred at its shooter.
It tore a chunk out of a building with a cry of rage, hurling the Volkswagon-sized projectile at Eridan. Fortunately for the fish guy the ogre's damaged eye affected its aim, and most of his damage came when a jagged piece of rebar crashed into his shoulder, leaving a wicked bruise and, even worse, tangling his scarf and dragging him along as the cement chunk grated across the sidewalk and crunched into a building. Eridan and his bike survived, but the scarf had paid the price: the end shredded and impaled on the rough protruding steel.
The giclops snarled to see how its aim had been wrecked and chose to kick a chunk of the road at Aradia rather than place its trust in a single projectile. Its thick-skinned foot and hideous strength let it dig its toes in like a human kicking dirt. She was sprayed with gravel and larger bits of debris, knocking her back and leaving another of painful but non-threatening lacerations and torn places in her clothing.
Its vision blurry, the giclops trusted in the compass tugging of its purpose and set off at a road-shuddering trot. The heroes were worrying away at it and wearing it down, but it had a stronger calling that it must fulfill, no matter what.
Eridan: That's freaky fish guy to you
Okay, yeah, this scarf is a flimsy, bargain-brand piece of shit and he really ought to have done a better job tying up the loose ends so they wouldn't become frayed ends. If he had been better at sewing, his actual outfit would have been ready by now and he wouldn't even have this problem. Alas, he had never quite gotten the hang of it and remained as slow as when he started, though with many less tangles and snags, and much better quality results.
As it stands though, he is paying for his failures, shoulder bashed and end of scarf snagged by concrete chunk and rusting rebar, drawing the material tight to his throat as he was pulled along. And he absolutely did not yelp, though that was mostly due to his strangulation problem as opposed to self-restraint. He’d gained cuts and scrapes and more than a few rocks in uncomfortable locations, before it finally lost momentum and he was able to tug the mangled scarf free.
Clambering back onto his feet, he observes his foe continuing its northward journey as he loosens where the scarf had cinched close and tucks the ends, or what remained of them, beneath his hoodie. He revels in the burning pain of his injured shoulder for a moment before shaking it off and convincing himself to put off acknowledgment of it until the threat is dealt with.
Eridan breaks out into a run after his foe, closing the distance between the creature, ceaseless in its push forward, and his next shot. Unfortunately, aiming for a weak spot like an eye was not an option this time, but being behind it had revealed some other prime targets. While the slashed ankle was tempting, and stopping it's movement would be ideal, it was hard to get a clean shot lined up when was being walked on. Instead, he leveled his rifle at the deepest, widest part of the cut along its spine and pulled the trigger. The caliber bullets he used may not be more than an annoyance, to a creature that large and of such complete bs anatomy, but he hoped one got lodged somewhere particularly irritating.
That would show it not to turn it's back on attackers… or not. The thing seemed the opposite of smart.
Nepeta: lets get ready to rumble
Sollux: Pay Attention Again
Dave: Fix your brother
Dirk: Motherfucking shit fuck
Dave: u stop that
(no subject)
(no subject)
(no subject)
Feferi: Always arrive exactly when you mean to
(no subject)
Feferi: Ignore scolding
ROUND 7
Still it soldiered stubbornly on, picking up speed as the park approached.
Eridan's shot struck true with a spray of ichor, making the monster stagger forward, crushing a car in its struggle to stay upright. It snarled as it regained its feet and tore a chunk of steel and glass out of the totaled vehicle and hurled it at Eridan. He was not so lucky this time and the projectile connected solidly with him, leaving him bloodied and bruised. He would not be able to take another hit like that.
The giclops had resumed its painful progress when Nepeta struck, her blades sinking deeply into the compromised hide. The monster bellowed like an animal and tried to knock her off, but its movements were clumsy and sight too cloudy to get a firm fix on her and it missed. Ichor dripped down her weapons onto her hands in a warm flow as the giclops gave up and resumed its efforts to fulfill its purpose, staggering northward with her still hanging on its leg.
Sollux: pewpewpew
Whatever. He ignored the strange small person and instead aimed his vision at the back of the giclops' other knee. Since no one was close enough to hear and it helped take his mind off of the unpleasant sensation of shoving laser beams out his eyes, he made a quiet whirring sound like a computer overheating as he prepared himself to fire.
When he did fire, he made laser noises to himself, a little louder than intended - but still probably not loud enough for anyone to hear him unless they had been listening.
Dave: Get back to business
Dirk: Strife
Feferi: Grand Theft Bicycle
Equius: Be the bull.
ROUND 8
Sollux's blow just clipped the moving limb, leaving a smoking furrow behind but given the giclops' current level of damage, it scarcely seemed to register. The monster continued to stagger on, and its foot finally hit the grass of the park.
The pressure seemed to increase on the heroes as the giclops straightened, shaking its head as if to clear it. With a malicious snarl it ripped up a tree and hurled it in the direction of Sollux. The tree was too large to dodge and branches crashed into him. He was tangled up in leaves and bark and hurting and, dazed, it would take time (one round) to get back on his feet and out of the snarl.
The Striders' swords cut deep into the weakened hide and at last each cut drew ichor and howls from the creature. It swiped at Dirk with a heavy hand, nearly catching the weakened swordsman, but luck was with him and he escaped unscathed this time. Not so for Dave, around whom massive thick-skinned fingers curled and he was hauled upward for the giclops to glare at painfully through an ever-less-usable eye.
The giclops opened its mouth, showing massive teeth and exhaling a foul odor at Dave when a dark blue blur rocketed up out of nowhere and a heavy fist crashed into its face.
Whatever noise it had meant to make became a pained grunt. It clenched its own fists and swiped at Dirk again, his bright hair more easily tracked than the dark shape of Equius against the grass. Unfortunately for Dave in its other hand, the convulsive action cracked ribs and he was swung through the air.
Equius' strike added a final bit of force to the already-overbalancing giclops as it reached for Dirk with its free hand.
Slowly, almost gracefully, it toppled forward, dropping Dave as it tried to halt its fall. Its hands gouged furrows in the earth as the thud shook the ground from the impact. Equius would find himself rather smashed under a massive unyielding weight, unable to move until the 15' monster got up and off of him.
The giclops looked truly exhausted as it started to push itself back up, ichor running down its jaw.
Sollux: try not to give up
And it was kind of comfortable where he was, if he ignored the signals from every sensory neuron, and the way his entire body was on fire with scrapes and the deeper ache of bruises.
But no, he should really get out of this stupid tangle of branches before someone tried to help him out and he had to explain who he was and how he'd been doing that superpower shit.
Sollux began to struggle his way out, losing several layers of skin on his unprotected arms and (almost) his ski mask in the process.
It is I, the kill-stealing fuck
Dave: Get wreckt
Dirk: Save your brother
Dave: fuck shit fuck oh god ow
Dirk: Do Not Panic
Dave: Suffer
Feferi: Protect what is yours
Dirk: Oh For Fuck's Sake
Dave: Appreciate the fish
Dirk: What do we do with the body?
Nepeta: Equius is fuckin dead
Re: Nepeta: Equius is fuckin dead
Eridan: Tubthumping
ROUND 9: PLAYER VICTORY
The wobbling frisbee of the car door clanged against its back and it grumbled, more focused on getting to its feet than in responding though the jagged metal had left yet another slash in its hide. The giclops staggered forward, its goal within reach..
A shot rang out and the giclops froze, Eridan's bullet the final nail in the luxurious coffin the heroes had built. The black of its hide seemed to darken as it began to shake. Rather than convulsions, it seemed as though space itself warped around the thing as its position in space time destabilized.
A dark pillar of light burned its way out of the monster with the cold fury of the void of space. It shot up out of sight into the sky, lost among blue but alarming infinite.
This was secondary to the heroes in the immediate vicinity as a shockwave from the giclops' defeat and the unleashing of the pillar of black gleam slammed into them.
The branches and leaves and grass were unaffected, but Sollux was thrown out of the branches he had been scrambling free of, knocked back several feet and left to sprawl on the grass.
John's late arrival did not spare him as the force hit him in the chest, knocking him onto his back and leaving him winded and aching.
Nepeta was thrown into Equius and both of them tumbled the farthest as they had been closest, left in a tangle of gross liquid and mismatched limbs and bruises.
Eridan was knocked head over heels, rolling backwards and with more than a few bumps and bruises to show for his troubles, as if the giclops' final act had been to exact vengeance.
They were left in the abrupt silence with aching joints and more than a few bruises... and a pillar of darkness stretching up higher than they could see, as wide around as a redwood and as hard to look at as the sun. It resisted all attempts to touch or affect it, all matter stopping just shy of coming into contact with the burning darkness.
(( Mod note: Feel free to have your characters pick themselves up and look around but try and keep things to about 5 minutes of time within the frame of the rp for reasons that will be revealed in battle three. Also if you plan to participate in battle three, keep your character in the area ))
Dirk: Protect Your Family
"What the actual fuck was that?" He asked, looking at Dave. They'd fought a lot in their life time, but Dirk had never seen anything like that.
He should really go find their swords before all hell broke loose again. (He didn't believe for a second that this was the end. That energy pillar was a pretty obvious give away.)
Sollux: Give up
