Something Massive This Way Comes | Crocker Univeristy
If you turn on the news at all this afternoon, you might notice that the entire city is in a state of straight up panic. The news reporters are frantically trying to find the proper words to say "A massive cyclops monster has emerged next to Crocker University and it is heading north."
Perhaps, if you're close enough, you'll hear the thing's massive footsteps as it cracks pavement and sends good town citizens screaming and running for cover.
Or perhaps you're listening into the police radio somehow, hearing their attempts to harm the thing go entirely to waste. Clearly, they aren't cut out to face giant monsters - that's up to somebody else.
It's time to shine, heroes!
((OOC Notes: First off, a reminder that if you participate in this battle, you will NOT be able to participate in the second battle, which will happen from the 27th-31st. Pick whichever one works best with your schedule.
Secondly, we are going to try a new battle format for this series of battles. Multiple attacks from multiple characters can be launched at once rather than needed to wait for a monster response between each attack. The way this will work is that you will make a direct reply to the most recent monster post, detailing your character's attack - do NOT reply anybody else's attacks. For now, this means you can also launch consecutive attacks, though there may be instances in which your character will have to sit out a round due to damages; we'll let you know if this happens.
Here's a concrete example of what a battle thread may look like.
At the end of this event, we'll try and get a sense about how you guys like this new battle method. We're hoping this will streamline battles a bit more and give everybody a shot at the action!))

Nepeta: lets get ready to rumble
Desperately she overturned another pile of clothes that had accumulated on the floor, kicking shirts and pants in different directions hoping to find her mask. At last, a lumpy pant leg finally gave up it’s secret treasure, and the mask tumbled free out onto the bedroom floor. She snatched it up and stuffed it into the pocket of her vest.
It had been an interesting couple of weeks, between the imps, the dreams, and the meetings to discuss the weird happenings and powers, and now this- It made her glad that there were others, who were going through the same bizarre things. She was particularly thankful for Equius, who had been maybe a bit too eager to help her fine tune an idea she had had for a super hero worthy weapon.
With the bundle she’d received from Equius carefully stuffed in her bag, and her mask held safe and sound in her pocket, she rushed out the door, and towards where the news had reported the monster to be on the live coverage. Thankfully it had been working it’s way north, and with her feet moving her south, it would only be a matter of time until she would cross paths with the monster and those who the news had just reported to be on the scene as she had rushed out.
She pulled her phone out and wrote a brief message to her most important person, so he would know what’s up, then stuffed her phone back into the back pocket of her pants and picked up her pace.
:33 < hey smelly, guess what!>?
:33 < i’m about to go fight a giant monster with the claws you made fur me!
>:OO < i’m actually supurr pumped fur this!
:33 < hopefurly they work out well, but i’ll let you know how they are aftpurr the battle.

Nepeta came upon a battle already underway, just in time to see a figure getting yanked around by flying debris, a collection of bodies in various states of upright, and downed, and a mass of hair attached to someone who was floating through the air. Shit had clearly been going down for a while. She pulled the mask out of her pocket and over her face as she approached, and crouched by a car left abandoned in the street to pull her claws out of her bag. Like some something straight out of a comic book, the claws were like long elegant knives that seemingly sprouted from her knuckles as she gripped the handles. She closed the bracers around her wrists, determined to fuck shit up as much as she could.
Nepeta skirted around chunks of cement and downed light posts, keeping a watchful eye on her surroundings as she assessed the monstrous beast which charged straight at her. She took a deep breath and leapt, wrapping her arms around it’s leg and digging the claw blades into its thick hide as she did.
