Insert Coin | OPEN
Insert Coin didn't look like much from the outside: dark tinted windows and a large green and black sign over top. Nevertheless the bike rack out front was almost always full and finding parking could be quite a challenge.
It lay several blocks north of the park, nearer to Skaia U than Crocker U and well nestled in the heart of the area where most Skaia students who lived off campus tended to settle in a more densely packed area with apartments and eateries. It didn't bother advertising much since it had become a staple of college life in Sburb and business was booming.
Inside the place was dimly lit with scattered neon and the comforting blue glow of abundant screens. Most of the floor space was devoted to games that ran the gamut from pac man up to the more modern games with motion capture so you could duck your character behind cover and several DDR machines to trick people into exercising.
A long glass counter stretched to your right as you came in, complete with the full range of prizes that you could redeem your tickets for, all the way up to the 100,000 ticket replica light saber that gleamed in its own case behind the counter. The employees generally looked bored as they exchanged cash for tokens and tickets for prizes.
Farther in was another counter that the owners had had the brilliant idea of making available to food truck vendors. The menu varied drastically depending on the day and regular customers tracked Insert Coin's social media feeds to find out which food trucks were scheduled for which days. There were some tables and chairs clustered near that counter as well as the more active games like DDR for entertainment while you ate. The water fountains and bathrooms were near there as well.
There was also a more enclosed area upstairs, with private rooms for karaoke and private parties, where you could reserve a room and a particular game ahead of time for a few hours. The owner often said that putting in a service elevator had been his smartest investment and a large chunk of the arcade's income came from people setting up soulcalibur tournaments or bringing in their own consoles to take advantage of top of the line projection and sound equipment to game on a screen the size of a wall.
For clients of age they also sold beer and some basic cocktails, though if you spilled you were banned for a month with second offenses earning you a lifetime ban.
Have fun!
((Mod note: The arcade and food trucks will be wholly staffed by NPCs for now so feel free to set future threads here for parties or hang outs. It has any arcade game you want. The areas so far are: Main Arcade, Prize Counter, Food Counter, Karaoke, and Party Rooms. Let us know if you want other areas! Also this isn't leading to plot or anything, we just felt the time was right for a new neutral space and an open thread!))

Roxy: unf <3
It helped that she had learned to kick crane ass ages ago, through sheer frustration and skill piling up to pressurize and pave her way to masterhood.
"Roxy. Roxy Lalonde." The woman in question gave a hearty wink back to the man that had just introduced himself, slipping her palm into his and gripping his hand with no small amount of strength. Grip had to be exercised like everything else, after all. "Trust me, it is ALWAYS a special pleasure of mine to kick crane-ass and help out a cute dude besides." Oooookay, she needed to slam dunk a cork in her gaping gash of a mouth. No need to be a homewrecker, even if Jake there was rugged and handsome in too many ways to count.
(Fuck, his girlfriend would probably be hot too. Why was bisexuality such hell?)
"Man, and here I was gonna let you claim credit and show off!" She laughed, relieved to find that the noise didn't rasp again. "You are SUCH an honest dude, Jakey. Totes not a bad thing, though." Was she—yep, winking sure was a thing Roxy was doing again. "I'm all kinds of down with meetin' your sweet GF, though. Gotta be one hell of a dynamite gal to nab herself a guy like you, huh?"
Stop flirting, STOP FLIRTING, clog up the veritable septic shit stream that's hitting on hot peeps—Well, at least she didn't hold his hand after the shake longer than was socially acceptable. Humming once, Roxy turned herself towards Jake's side and bumped his hip with hers. "C'mon, bro, let's go scope out the other hot gamer chick."
Jake: Be Oblivious
So he accepted the flirting openly.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Roxy!" he exclaimed, noting the strong grip and giving her a nice firm handshake. Her hand was considerably larger than most women's that he'd met, but he thought nothing of it, not really being inclined to think that was a strange thing. Just like the fact that she seemed to only be about an inch shorter than him, which he marveled over. Jane was so short in comparison, but he did like it that way. She was his adorable little girlfriend who was constantly teaching him the ways of socially acceptable behavior.
"I do try to be as honest and up front as possible. I see no reason to lie or show off an achievement which I did not accomplish. I have nothing to gain from it, after all," he stated after hearing her bit about telling Jane she had won the prize for Jake to give to her. An even bigger smile broke out on his face hearing that Roxy would love to meet Jane however, leading him to gush about his beautiful lady love. "Oh yes! She's absolutely brilliant and so fine. I'm still quite flabbergasted that she found herself fancying ME of all people," he laughed, grabbing Roxy's wrist and tugging her toward DDR where he figured Jane would be.
"Yes. Let us away to my lady love so I may present her with this fine gift as well as a plush squiddle," he gave her a wink in return, referring to her friendship being the gift he'd be giving Jane.
Roxy: Holy shit.
"Man, you are one hell of an honest dude. Totes don't raise 'em up like you anymore," she lamented, shaking her head. "Seriously, though, I really DGAF if you wanna be flounce it all around and be like, 'yo sweet datemite of mine! I totes just nabbed you this sickass li'l tentacle bud, and also, here's a hot girl that I found.'" But, well, Jake had already made pretty clear that he wanted to be honest about it, so no reason for Roxy not to revel in all the marvel that was gonna rain down on her head.
Wrist grabs weren't really the most comfortable of all things for Roxy to be getting led by, so she twisted her hand out of Jake's grip; physical contact wasn't something she really had an issue with, though, so she just hooked her arm into Jake's elbow for the course of their journey. "Jakey, you can't be gettin' on with THAT noise. I'm sure she's totes heads over heels for you, no matter HOW amazin' a girl she is. Just 'cause she's super great don't mean that you suddenly have to be less great than her or somethin'." Maybe she was reading too much into that statement, but damn it, Roxy had dealt with a large gaggle of peeps that had done that sly self-deprecating BS and her first instinct was always to smash the hell out of it when it cropped up.
At Jake's last statement, Roxy found her eyebrows raising a great deal as well as a short snort pushing through her nose. An incredulous snort, though. Jesus, why couldn't she just giggle or something? "Ooooooh-MG, dude. Yeah, I'm sure that a threesome is one hell of a gift." God damn it.
