Feferi was grinning hugely as she bounced on the balls of her feet, staring at her phone. She was coming out of the library at Crocker U and was done with studying for now and was eager to meet up with her new acquaintance and get some commissions underway.

Feferi squealed excitedly as she jumped up and down in a circle. Other students sidled around her, but she was too familiar a fixture to merit much staring. She was the college owner's daughter after all.

669 Virginia Road
Its A Few Minutes From Central Park By Car
When she had finished responding to Feferi, she typed out another text:
Hey Amma And Appa
Im Having Someone Over She Will Probably Still Be Here When You Come Home
She placed her phone on her desk and set about cleaning up the scraps of fabric around her room. It would not be professional to have a client see her workspace like this, even if this was its true state. She opened her curtains to get as much sunlight streaming in as possible. The brightly colored pillows on her bed and plants by her windows made her room pop, while the larger areas of white and green softened their impact. Her supplies were organized neatly on a bookshelf. There was a desk set against one window, upon which resided her trusty sewing machine. It was old, but obviously well-cared-for.
Satisfied, she grabbed her phone and hopped downstairs. She settled on the couch to await Feferi's arrival.

Within ten minutes the sleek little pink two-seater hummed to park in front of the house and Feferi bounced out eagerly. She was dressed to the nines as usual, royal tyrian purple vest over a fit and flare white dress that contrasted nicely with her naturally tan skin. Her hair was brushed out to its usual mane, held out of her face with an actual circlet with a purple pendant in the middle that sat in the middle of her forehead. Her fake eyelashes brushed her cheeks as she paused to straighten her dress and glance down to make sure her white heels were unscuffed before she rang the doorbell, bouncing on the balls of her feet again and grinning wide enough to show an almost alarming number of teeth.

Kanaya herself was dressed casually in skinny jeans and a flowery top. She stepped aside into the living room, and led her upstairs past the dark wicker furniture and red rug. "Come in. Would you like anything to drink?"
no subject
"You look reely nice and your house is very pretty!!" Feferi enthused as she followed up the stairs, wondering where they were going.

"I'm glad you like it!!" Fef said, sinking down to kneel gracefully on the pillow and smoothed her skirt. She dug in her purse and pulled out a small pile of somewhat rumpled papers and handed it to Kanaya, complete with very amateurish drawings of the skirt she had been wearing at the rave, tight and with ruffles like fins, then another with a train that looked like a tail and a dress that was poofy and multilayered and very very brightly colored. "I'm not the best at art but I fin these are pretty much what I'm interested in?"

Her eyes flicked over the sketch, appreciating the pink and pursing her lips as she drank it in. "Ooooh I like it!!! What's elastane?" she asked, reaching out as if to pet the sketch but holding back just shy of the tips of her fingers brushing the paper, not wanting to smudge. Her eyes were positively glittering with desire.

Her tongue stuck out of the corner of her mouth as she managed to undo the button.

She propped her hands on her hips and smiled at Kanaya. "Where should we start?"

She stepped away and studied her notes. "I think I've gotten everything I need. You can put your clothing back on.
"I've gathered that you prefer pink, but what about the accents? Are there any particular colors you'd like?"
no subject
"I like most bright colors!! Especially purples and blues and greens!!! Oceany and fishy colors!!!!" she said happily. When her dress was zipped up she turned around and tried to see what Kanaya had written down.

She leaned over to watch the notetaking, realizing belatedly how much taller Kanaya was. "And take as much time as you need to do it right!!! Hmm... How much do you usually want as an advance?" Feferi asked, retrieving her purse and digging around in it.
no subject
"It depends on what you want out of it." She put a finger on her cheek. "Trains are traditionally made to display how elaborate they are. But I'll make alternate designs and email you, and you'll have until I'm done with the tight skirt to decide, so take your time on that. And I need enough to buy the fabric -- so about two hundred for the first skirt."

She pursed her lips and nibbled on the tip of her tongue as she scrawled out a check for $500 and carefully tore the whale-patterned check out and handed it to Kanaya. The memo read: Advance for Skirt and Dress.
Her eyes were sparkling as she tucked her wallet away, beaming at Kanaya. "I'm so EXCITED!!!!!!!!!"
no subject
Kanaya took the check and tucked it away safely in her own wallet. She'd have to head to the fabric store tomorrow.
"Would you like to stay for dinner? I'm sure my parents will insist on it."
no subject
She pulled out her phone, fiddling with the settings before smiling brightly at Kanaya expectantly.

She stood at the door and waved as Feferi backed out of her driveway.

She had found that oftentimes the Correct and Proper thing to say was the exact opposite of what she wanted to say and she used this to great effect to appear more thoughtful than she really was.
Fef appreciated the polite walk out and waved merrily as she drove away, humming happily to herself and eagerly anticipating her new articles of clothing.
