"Oh, yes. I tend to go into work mode at times like this." Kanaya marked the color preferences down next to her notes on where the accents would best suit Feferi's shape and the kind of material each part should be. "The tight skirt is going to be anywhere from three hundred to five hundred dollars depending on how high-quality you want the material to be. If you want embroidery on the train that'll be extra... and the dress will probably be in the seven hundred dollar range. All in all this will take me at least a couple months. I have to stay on top of school and work as well."

Kanaya was surprised at how flippant Feferi was about the money, but she was excited to make the most of the high-end fabric.

"It depends on what you want out of it." She put a finger on her cheek. "Trains are traditionally made to display how elaborate they are. But I'll make alternate designs and email you, and you'll have until I'm done with the tight skirt to decide, so take your time on that. And I need enough to buy the fabric -- so about two hundred for the first skirt."

Jeez, Feferi said that often. Kanaya got the feeling hanging out with her for too long would quickly sap her social energy. She didn't mind this shortish amount of time, though.

Kanaya took the check and tucked it away safely in her own wallet. She'd have to head to the fabric store tomorrow.

"Would you like to stay for dinner? I'm sure my parents will insist on it."

"Oh, yeah, sure." Kanaya moved next to Feferi, hunching down awkwardly so she was properly in the frame. She gave the camera a small smile and the flash went off, dazing her. "Alright," Kanaya said, rubbing her eyes. "Thank you for deciding to commission me, Feferi. I'll make the pieces as spectacular as I can." Not that she wouldn't if she weren't being paid such a sizable amount; she just wanted Feferi to know. "I'll walk you out."

She stood at the door and waved as Feferi backed out of her driveway.
