Rose was attempting to finish reading Gravity's Rainbow for her modern fiction seminar class, but it was difficult to keep track of the plot (if it could even be called a plot) when her mind kept flitting back to Dave. She knew that he would text her, one way or another, once he knew if he had a place to stay that night, but she couldn't help but be nervous for him. She knew that Dirk loved him and she likely had nothing to worry about, but there was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that she needed to check on him, that she should be making sure he was safe, that she should have gone with him for support.
Finally, she closed her book and picked up her phone. She didn't want Dave to feel like she was trying to mother him, but she couldn't stand not knowing what was happening. Guilt coiled in her stomach as she thumbed over Dirk's name in her contact list. She knew she had probably been too harsh on him, but she had been so angry on Dave's behalf that she had replied to him without really thinking it through first. She didn't know if he would even want to hear from her, but perhaps she could use this as an opportunity to extend an olive branch as well.

TT: How did your talk with Dave go?
TT: I hope you've been well these last few days.
