Date: April 13th, 2016
From: Kanaya Maryam
To: Feferi Peixes, Terezi Pyrope, Nepeta Leijon, Eridan Ampora, Jade Harley, Sollux Captor, Tavros Nitram, Aradia Megido
Hello Everyone
Last Night Those Of Us Who Belong To The Golden Kingdom Were Summoned By The Queen To Hear Some Heavily Mysterious And Rather Alarming News
Previous To This Occurrence Feferi Terezi And I Discussed A Possible Meeting To Better Ourselves By Raising Our Skill Levels With The Hope That Doing So Will Increase The Chances Of A Favorable Outcome When Confronting These Otherworldly Creatures
Whatever Is Transpiring It Is Imperative That We Be Prepared And Personally I Would Be More Disposed To Practice In The Presence Of Prospective Partners
In Addition To Showing Signs Of Potential Powers My Dear Friend Karkat Is Currently Training In The Army And Has Agreed To Instruct Those Of Us Willing To Learn In Self Defense Techniques
I Request That You Do Not Bring Weapons As They Will Be Too Conspicuous In A Public Space But That You Do Bring Comfortable Clothing And If You Have Met Anyone Else That You Believe To Be Involved I Highly Encourage You Usher Them Along As More Perspectives Will Only Serve To Supplement Our Understanding Of The Situation
Karkat And I Would Like To Meet Tomorrow At 4 In Central Park Between The Fountain And The Elderly Flash Dancing Lesson
Please Contact Me Presently If You Will Be Late Or Cannot Attend

Bag packed with her sketchbook, raw meat, and grapes, Kanaya found herself ready for the journey to the park. The walk from her new place was a bit longer than before, so even though she lingered while choosing a workout outfit -- a simple white shirt and roomy ankle-length red skirt -- she overshot the timing and arrived nearly twenty minutes early.
She tucked herself beneath a tree near the upbeat dance class, pulling out her sketchbook. The wispy hair, flabby arms, and neon leotards would serve as good drawing subjects and an easy-to-follow beacon for her fellow superpowered peers to home in on.

Bag packed with her sketchbook, raw meat, and grapes, Kanaya found herself ready for the journey to the park. She chuckled. "That's Karkat, who I may have mentioned to you before as he's been a dear friend to me for years, and while he is meant to be instructing us, I have previously taken some basic defense classes so I can attempt to relate the knowledge to you if you're amenable even if the experience isn't the most applicable and I'm not the most qualified to do so."
It was nice to speak with Rose casually again.

"I recall you telling me a bit about him, now that you mention it. I feel I should apologize to him for my family's behavior earlier, they certainly did their best to make a mess of his meeting." She rolled her eyes. "If you're willing, I would be happy to get a start on the basics, while we wait."
It was so easy to act like the past few weeks had never happened when they were chatting like this. Hearing her laugh again made Rose's chest feel light, as though she could shine from the inside out just from the pure relief of knowing that she hadn't truly lost Kanaya like she thought she had. It was a pity that she couldn't quite bring herself to trust it to last.

She circled Rose. "Here, you should be straightening your spine like this." She pressed a firm hand briefly to Rose's back, correcting the posture and glowing a bit at the touch.

She adjusted her stance according to the steady, professional touches bestowed upon her, trying not to do anything undignified like blush or lean into Kanaya's hands. This was a friendly defense lesson between two friends, and she had no right to think anything more of it, and that was fine. Really. She certainly wasn't letting her elbow droop on purpose.

She gripped Rose's elbow lightly from behind. "If you do not retain the position of your arms you will find yourself hard-pressed to maintain a defensible position, especially when accosted by the odd nature of our foes' anatomy as so far they have consisted of a pair of impractically tremendous canines and a swarm of compact gremlins. Based on previous trends it is unlikely that we will be fighting typical humanoids, but..."
She completed her circuit and stood before Rose once more. "If someone was to attack and restrain you in this manner, what do you suspect would be the best course of action?" Her hands rested on Rose's upper arms, just tight enough that a simple shake would not dislodge them.
The hoofed mailman.
His breath was heavy and slow as he got used to the various new painful points across his body: Lip and jaw still bleeding just like his back, spots around his neck and chest were turning into darker shades slowly as the skin and muscle swelled up in response to fists. He rested like this for a few minutes until the dull urgency of work remminded him of who he had seen earlier in the park.
Still shirtless, still bleeding he got up from the spot and walked over to his "client" who seemed to be prancing around one of Equius fellow Derse monger. Standing tall as he was he stood still close to the pair until Kanaya ended her demonstration considering her explanation. "Good evening miss Maryam" he saluted the woman, his skin shinning thanks to the sun and a layer of sweat as he nodded to the other girl "I must inform you that your... Device is fully functional and ready for deployment, if you could follow me to my car" he finished with a huff, he really needed a nap and a few showers... maybe after another match.
You Mean The Devil?
Feet planted firmly, she gave him a brief once-over. He really, really needed a shower. "... Alright. Rose, I apologize, this should only occupy a laconic moment of my time. I will return presently."
Re: The hoofed mailman.
"Thank you for the lesson, Kanaya, your instruction has been most enlightening. Please feel free to attend to your business," Rose said, looking between the two of them with a raised eyebrow. She wondered what Kanaya "And... I am very glad to have spoken with you. It was good to see you again," she said softly, allowing a small, genuine smile.

It really had been too long. But Rose's words had sounded like a farewell, and limiting the duration of their first interaction in months was probably best. "Goodbye Rose I will contact you speedily and perhaps we can continue to reclaim what time the circumstances and myself may have displaced."
