Hello Everyone
Last Night Those Of Us Who Belong To The Golden Kingdom Were Summoned By The Queen To Hear Some Heavily Mysterious And Rather Alarming News
Previous To This Occurrence Feferi Terezi And I Discussed A Possible Meeting To Better Ourselves By Raising Our Skill Levels With The Hope That Doing So Will Increase The Chances Of A Favorable Outcome When Confronting These Otherworldly Creatures
Whatever Is Transpiring It Is Imperative That We Be Prepared And Personally I Would Be More Disposed To Practice In The Presence Of Prospective Partners
In Addition To Showing Signs Of Potential Powers My Dear Friend Karkat Is Currently Training In The Army And Has Agreed To Instruct Those Of Us Willing To Learn In Self Defense Techniques
I Request That You Do Not Bring Weapons As They Will Be Too Conspicuous In A Public Space But That You Do Bring Comfortable Clothing And If You Have Met Anyone Else That You Believe To Be Involved I Highly Encourage You Usher Them Along As More Perspectives Will Only Serve To Supplement Our Understanding Of The Situation
Karkat And I Would Like To Meet Tomorrow At 4 In Central Park Between The Fountain And The Elderly Flash Dancing Lesson
Please Contact Me Presently If You Will Be Late Or Cannot Attend

Bag packed with her sketchbook, raw meat, and grapes, Kanaya found herself ready for the journey to the park. The walk from her new place was a bit longer than before, so even though she lingered while choosing a workout outfit -- a simple white shirt and roomy ankle-length red skirt -- she overshot the timing and arrived nearly twenty minutes early.
She tucked herself beneath a tree near the upbeat dance class, pulling out her sketchbook. The wispy hair, flabby arms, and neon leotards would serve as good drawing subjects and an easy-to-follow beacon for her fellow superpowered peers to home in on.

It was only the first day, he told himself. They probably wouldn't even get much done besides debating what their situation actually was. This was not the time to worry. He loudly yelled at himself to suck it up and get it over with. He thought he heard someone in a neighboring room yell at him to shut up.
Digging through his bag, he triple checked that he had his notebook, two water bottles, his medicine ball, and a pack of protein bars. Incredibly, he almost forgot his phone. He wore a pair of gray exercise shorts (that actually fit him) and a plain red Nike T-shirt, along with his worn-down black sneakers. Ready to lead a group of crazy young adults into battle with ancient magical monsters.
When he arrived at the park, he scanned around until he found where Kanaya was sitting with Terezi. Damn it, he had been hoping to just talk to Kanaya before anyone else that he didn't really know was there. With quick, business like strides, he made his way over to them. Since he had only ever met Terezi in dreams, it was incredibly fucking weird to see her in person.
"It's incredibly fucking weird to see you in person," he said to Terezi. Then he nodded to Kanaya. "Looks like I'm on time after all." He checked his watch. "Two minutes for everyone else to arrive before they're all fucking late. Of course. Why should we be punctual when preparing ourselves to become monster-fighting deities?" Not that Karkat had really been any earlier. "Oh, who cares. Hello Terezi, I am Karkat if you don't remember, and I will be the leader of this monster-fighting league, or whatever the hell we're calling it."
no subject
Someone was approaching and she could hear via their footsteps, it was until the voice spoke up that her eyes lit up. It was honestly true, people from the dream were real. Of course, she had seen Kanaya, Jade, Sollux, Tavros and Vriska but she had known them from the real world. Karkat was the first one she met in the dream world of Prospit and is now meeting in real life.
"You really think it's weird? I think it's fun, dream boy." She replied back, tilting her head back to get a good sniff in while teasing him. It was time to test her theory from the dream. Her eyes widen and mouth agape; even he was wearing the best color of them all. It seemed they were all wearing something in regards to red and it was making her giddier than usual. Her smile brightened, "Hey Karkat! Of course, I remember you. How could I forget our fearless leader? Also, it's called the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild! You're going to need to remember that if you're going to lead this pack of heroes you know."
no subject
"What the fuck kind of name is that? What does 'Rumpus Guild' even mean? Who the fuck came up with this?" Karkat wondered briefly if being the leader meant he could veto the shitty name. Who would willingly go by the 'Super Mighty Rumpus Guild'? Trying to imagine it made it sound even more ridiculous: Help! I'm being eaten by a monster! I need someone to save me! Oh, I know! I'll call the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild. They'll come to my rescue! Have no fear, the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild is here! Did you hear? There have been monsters attacking, but this super brave band of heroes called the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild have been putting a stop to it.
Okay, the name was actually kind of growing on him; it was weird but endearing in a fucked up way. This whole situation sounded like a fucking joke, why not go by the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild? As a matter of fact, it was genius. No name could possibly suit their situation better.
"Actually, nevermind. It is a fucking fantastic name for our legion of idiots. As leader, I officially instate our name as the 'Super Mighty Rumpus Guild'. Consider it imprinted permanently on the record for all future generations to gawk and laugh their asses off at. We, a bunch of untrained, monster-fighting college students, are going to be called the 'Super Mighty Rumpus Guild'. That is, assuming more than three people actually show up." Karkat cast a glance around at the various people roaming the park. It was officially time for them to start; everyone else was late. "Is anyone actually coming? Are they wandering around lost or some shit? Do we need a sign?"
no subject
"Perhaps the name can be shortened to SMRG? That would be a bit less of a mouthful and marginally more catchy, though I'm uncertain how much the original title would phase our exceedingly verbose group.
"I figured the dancers would be eye-catching enough." The music was now some kind of sped up remix of Call Me Maybe, and the class was free-styling. It was incredible what retirement could do for your creative energy.
Her phone chimed, a message popping up on the screen. A small yellow fish accompanied the sender's name. "Feferi has disclosed that her lateness is due to her attempts to coerce some Derse dreamers into attending this meeting."
no subject
Terezi yawned while gazing off around the park; it was a little disheartening that the others were late but at least she was with good company. Reaching into her messenger bag, she pulled out Pyralspite and sat him on her lap as she searched for her fruit snacks. Ripping the top of her box, she snatched a package of fruit roll-ups with the funky tongue tattoos. Terezi tore the design apart and placed it on her tongue letting the fruit punch flavor dissolve on her tongue. Her attention was brought back to Kanaya when her phone had gone off. "Hmm?" She hummed, her tongue still sticking out to get the perfect radical cool kid tattoo. Terezi turned her attention to Karkat, "You thshould thit down and relath." She giggled lightly to herself and patted the ground to help Karkat understand her message. With the fruit roll up on her tongue her manner of speech was impeded for a moment and made her sound a lot like Sollux and his silly lisp.
She lit up hearing Feferi's name and what she could only assume was the dark dream world their friend was apart of. Terezi sucked her tongue back into her mouth and chewed the fruity snack before speaking. She swallowed hard to get rid of it, "Awesome!"

She sketched out Terezi's general proportions first. Perhaps a cape would suit her, mimic dragon wings? She experimented with different kinds of masks as well -- a full cap, just a ribbon with holes (it dawned on her the holes would be obsolete. The options that made possible!).
She fitted Karkat with a long-sleeved, underarmor top, critical eye assessing what would look best with his features. He'd look nice in red, but perhaps that'd be too noticeable? She decided on black with red accents along his hips and shoulders.

Once he was finally ready, he tossed the backpack around the handles of his chair and then moved towards the Professor’s cage, murmuring calming words at the overly excited pet. A week prior he’d bought what was essentially a bird leash, since he wanted the disabled bird to have more time in the fresh air and sun. He’d never worn the harness before, but with Tavros talking to him, he adjusted and was content to sit on Tav’s shoulder, nestled into his mohawk, cooing quietly as the pair left the apartment.
Twenty minutes later, Tavros arrived at the park and with his nerves shoved down his throat, he rolled up to the small group of heros. He was dressed in a loose grey tank top that had a taurus symbol on the front, a regular pair of jeans, and slip on sandals, overall looking incredibly plain, but very Tavros.
“Uh, hey, Kanaya, Terezi.” He tried to force a smile, at least glad that two of the three people there were people he’d met previously. “Brought, uh, my bird. His name is Professor. I’m Tavros, uh, by the way.” Tav added with a glance at Karkat, unsure of who he was, but he looked intimidating and that grew concern in his stomach. “Sorry I’m late, uh, had to get him harnessed.”

Walking up to the growing group, she brushed the bone clip in her hair absentmindedly. She had decided to forgo one of her trademark hats because of the possibility of wind. Despite her comfortable boots, she didn't quite feel like playing an eternal game of catch with her hats today. "I hope I'm not interrupting some super secret hero meeting. It would be quite a shame to have any of my dastardly plans foiled this soon into the game. Granted, that is assuming that everything that has occurred so far is true." Smoothing down her burgundy dress, she removed her Ouija patterned messenger bag and sat down, among who she hoped were allies. Given what she knew so far, at least where Kanaya and Terezi were concerned, it didn't seem likely that the two would harm her.
no subject
"I think you both know Terezi, and this is Karkat. He agreed to assist with instruction today."
no subject
"Yes, hello. Welcome to the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild, or SMRG for short. No, I did not come up with that title. Terezi, who is apparently my co-leader now because for some fucking reason a sense of 'fun' needs to be incorporated into this, came up with it. By the way I am the other co-leader, in case that wasn't obvious. As far as I know we have no fucking clue how many people are actually going to show up, and hardly anyone came on time, so we've all been just waiting indefinitely like a bunch of dumbasses. Feel free to join us." Karkat shrugged at both of them and finally took a seat next to Terezi where she had previously indicated.
Oops, that took a wire
Long story short, he was a little late, and trying very hard not to be nervous about it. There were several people who were going to be there that he didn't know all that well. Keeping this in mind, he dressed rather simply.
When he got there, he recognized almost everyone, and was happy to see that Tavros asw there. He caught the last bit of Kanaya's introductions, and waved a hello to Karkat.
"I'm Thollux," he said, wincing when the 's' sound comes out thick and not sharp.
Thmooth, dumbath, he thought sarcastically.
Baiting the )(ook
Feferi blared pink, in shiny spandex exercise pants that hugged her curvy self and ended at mid calf. Her shoes were a matching pink, and her top consisted of a loose pink t-shirt over a black sportsbra, baring her midriff.
"KANAYA!!!!" she cried, waving energetically as she continued what counted as sprinting for her short self. Dirk probably could keep apace while walking briskly. Her hair, for once, was caught up in twin braids that flowed out behind her as she bounced toward the gathering. "KA-NA-YAAAA!!!!!!!"
What the hell am I even here for?
To be honest, he wasn't really sure what they were doing here, beyond that it had to do something with "super powers" and "heroes". He'd agreed to tag along so he could gather information. (Not that Feferi had given him much choice.) He'd opted against telling Dave where they were going, instead just texting him to say he was out, and he'd be back later.
He scoped out the group of people as they approached. He recognized Kanaya and Sollux, but the others were strangers to him. He kept in stride with Feferi, letting her lead him and do all the talking.
no subject
"I expect that Feferi is acquainted with most everyone but Karkat. But perhaps we should delay further introductions until everyone is in attendance."
no subject
"Glub you're so tall," she muttered as she worked her way around to his other arm. "...I can't reach your face..."
Fef handed him the bottle of sunscreen while she continued to coat his other arm generously. "I guess you know Kanaya," she said in a passably quiet voice for Fef. Kanaya had said they would do introductions later but Feferi felt responsible for Dirk's comfort levels.
"Teal tank top is Terezi, Tavros has a... bird... for some reason... Sollux has the two-toned glasses, Aradia's in the red dress, and I guess that makes the red shirt Karkat!!"
no subject
He wasn't dressed for a work out; he didn't own anything of the sort. Hence, he was still wearing jeans and a t-shirt as he always did. Moving in denim wasn't an issue for him, anyhow. He took a seat near-ish Terezi, away from Dirk just to spite him. "Sup, TZ," he drawled, taking out his phone and blatantly snapping a pic of his brother getting lotion'd up by Feferi. "Fancy smelling you here."
no subject
He scanned the crowd inconspicuously from behind his shades, cataloging each person as Feferi named them. (His eyes lingered on the bird for a moment. He hoped Dave didn't get any bright ideas and try to adopt a crow or something.)
He froze when his gaze settled on his younger brother. What the fuck? He was talking to some girl Dirk didn't recognize, but he assumed she was the one who told him about the meeting. Damn. He hadn't told Dave about this for a reason. How was he supposed to protect him if he insisted on being in the middle of everything?
Seeing Dave surrounded by a crowd of people, seemingly at ease but not at his side made Dirk feel a strange combination of proud and sick to his stomach. His fingers curled into a fist at his side. He dug his blunt nails into his palms.
Leave him be. He told himself. This is good for him. If something happens, he's only a few feet away. You can still protect him.
He still didn't like that Dave would know more about these supposed super powers and heroes, but Dave wasn't an idiot and he had access to the internet, he would have found out eventually.
Dirk took a deep breath and let it out slowly. This was fine. Everything was fine.

What she found, upon arriving at the meeting spot, was a small collection of people she knew, though she'd have never thought to fit them together like this. Kanaya she recognized from the dream world - that made sense. Terezi and Feferi she recognized from fighting imps. Tavros and Sollux were from speed dating (and also Prospit), and then Aradia she'd met at the convention, and then there was the guy who had been lost at the carnival. And finally, there was Dave who she'd known for half of her life, and one man that she had never seen before in her entire life.
This was weird.
"Um... hi everyone!" she greeted. "Is this the meeting for people who dreamt about the golden towers?"
no subject
Soon three other 'heroes' had shown up; she knew of Feferi and Sollux being friends after all but the bubbly rich girl had brought another to the group. He was like a walking orange dreamsicle; especially when he was encouraged to put what she only could assume was sunscreen and not actual thick dairy cream. Kanaya had mentioned his name was Dirk.
She started to pull apart more of her fruit roll up that she was previously munching on. Terezi offered some to Karkat as they all waited; it seemed despite being a few minutes late everyone was starting to show up. Suddenly, she caught a whiff of something familiar followed by a greeting and her name from an equally familiar voice. She turned her head, surprised and happy to see the skeptic cool kid at the super heroes meeting. "Hey Dave!"
Terezi glanced up in Jade's direction; it wasn't a surprise she had made it to the meeting as well. She hadn't been around the other girl since the imp fight and being at Feferi's private beach house.
She chuckled turning her attention back to Dave, "I should be the one telling you that for a variety of reasons that we both know of. Welcome to SMRG otherwise known as the Super Mighty Rumpus Guild." As she had offered a snack to Karkat, she pointed to him with her thumb. "This is Karkat. We're co-leaders of the group of vigilantes."
no subject
"They know we dream of Derse but from what I gather the message they got was murky and seemed to be about being a grouper so they oar being very cooperative and not hunting us!! It seems prudent to school with them and keep tabs in case they turn on us but stay alert in case it's a crabtrap!! I'm pretty shore we're safe though, these folks are guppies and there's an awful lot of water in these fountains!!" Feferi murmured in his ear, lisping her s sounds to make it harder for someone to overhear what she was saying.
She smooched his cheek (leaving a vivid pink kiss mark) and dropped back down to flat feet, releasing his arm and beaming up at him cheerily, clearly unphased by the idea that this whole crows could be enemies and that their supposed orders were to hunt these people down.
"Keep your friends close and your anemones closer!!!" Fef said aloud, grinning and attempting to hold Dirk's hand again.
no subject
Or.
Wait.
No, idiot, if he was here then he also had weird shit going on. Duh.
With that thought in mind, he walked over to say hello and maybe to rescue Dirk from Feferi the fish girl a little.
"Hey," he said with a small, awkward wave. "What's up, Dirk, Feferi?"
no subject
His eyes narrowed as he listened, and he gave the group another one over. While he couldn't see Jake or Jane being his enemies, these people were all strangers, and he had no trust in them. (Not even Sollux or Kanaya, who he was already acquainted with.)
His eyes landed on Dave again, still talking to the girl he didn't recognize. He took a deep breath and reminded himself that Dave could defend himself, and if he couldn't, he wasn't that far away.
He blushed brightly at the unexpected kiss from Feferi and abruptly straightened up. He turned his face slightly away from her.
"Sure. I got it." He agreed, his voice low.
He didn't fight it when she took his hand in hers, but also didn't make any effort to reciprocate.
As an after thought he asked her, "Can you fight?" He didn't want to have to protect her and Dave if a fight broke out, but so far she'd been nothing but nice to them both (if a bit pushy) and he'd defend her if it came down to it.
He nodded to Sollux as he approached, answering him with a simple, "Hey."
Feferi Dirk Sollux
Her mother might never be around but Feferi had been in hand to hand training since she could walk. "It's ok Dirk, isle keep you safe," she said reassuringly, patting his arm.
She turned to regard Sollux's approach, grinning widely. "Hi!!! How's Torple??" she asked brightly, as if she hadn't just been confiding to her friend that she might have to tak all of these people out if things went sideways.
Her practicing had given her a much better sense of when water was around her, and between the nearby bathrooms, the abundant pipes underneath them, and the decorative lakes, Feferi felt nearly as content as when she was in the ocean.
Re: Feferi Dirk Sollux
He couldn't believe he'd forgotten about his (FAKE) sister for a couple weeks there.
"She's good," he said, voice a little high pitched. He coughed. "So, you're here because of the dreams right?
"Hey, neither of you dream on both, right? Because that's been happening with me and I'm really not sure what finding my corresponding dark side half is supposed to mean when I dream in both places."
That question had been driving him nuts since the dream, but he really hadn't gotten a chance to ask anyone. Most of the rest of the gibberish the Queen had spouted had floated out of his head, but that stuck with him.
Although maybe asking two people he hadn't even seen there wasn't the most solid of game plans.
Re: Feferi Dirk Sollux
He spaced out for a moment and almost didn't notice Sollux asking them a question.
"Sorry, dude, I'm only here because Feferi didn't give me a choice." He lied, shrugging his shoulders. He filed away the information Sollux provided, about having two "dream selves" and needing to find his "dark side", but didn't offer up any of his own knowledge.
