Hello Everyone
Last Night Those Of Us Who Belong To The Golden Kingdom Were Summoned By The Queen To Hear Some Heavily Mysterious And Rather Alarming News
Previous To This Occurrence Feferi Terezi And I Discussed A Possible Meeting To Better Ourselves By Raising Our Skill Levels With The Hope That Doing So Will Increase The Chances Of A Favorable Outcome When Confronting These Otherworldly Creatures
Whatever Is Transpiring It Is Imperative That We Be Prepared And Personally I Would Be More Disposed To Practice In The Presence Of Prospective Partners
In Addition To Showing Signs Of Potential Powers My Dear Friend Karkat Is Currently Training In The Army And Has Agreed To Instruct Those Of Us Willing To Learn In Self Defense Techniques
I Request That You Do Not Bring Weapons As They Will Be Too Conspicuous In A Public Space But That You Do Bring Comfortable Clothing And If You Have Met Anyone Else That You Believe To Be Involved I Highly Encourage You Usher Them Along As More Perspectives Will Only Serve To Supplement Our Understanding Of The Situation
Karkat And I Would Like To Meet Tomorrow At 4 In Central Park Between The Fountain And The Elderly Flash Dancing Lesson
Please Contact Me Presently If You Will Be Late Or Cannot Attend

Bag packed with her sketchbook, raw meat, and grapes, Kanaya found herself ready for the journey to the park. The walk from her new place was a bit longer than before, so even though she lingered while choosing a workout outfit -- a simple white shirt and roomy ankle-length red skirt -- she overshot the timing and arrived nearly twenty minutes early.
She tucked herself beneath a tree near the upbeat dance class, pulling out her sketchbook. The wispy hair, flabby arms, and neon leotards would serve as good drawing subjects and an easy-to-follow beacon for her fellow superpowered peers to home in on.

Fef smiled politely when Dirk introduced her. "Nice to meet you both. Any relation to Betty Crocker?" she asked Jane. As a probe and a slight it was sub par, but it cut to the heart of her confusion. Feferi was sufficiently in the know to be aware that there had been such a person as Betty Crocker, but was blissfully unaware that that was her own mother's alter ego. To Feferi, she was a semi-legendary figure who dated back to the founding of the company by the Crocker family and mostly she was just hoping to ascertain whether Jane was part of THE Crocker family and therefore someone she should be friendly towards or if she was just a... common Crocker. Her smile remained sweet as she watched Jane's face for a reaction... before processing Jake's overemphasis of words wasn't a weird speech impediment but an attempt at watery puns.
She blinked and gave Jake a curious look. Disheveled from his Tarzan adventure in the tree followed by an abrupt reintroduction to the ground, he bore little resemblance to the glimpses she had gotten of him in his truck and glowing yellow powers were so far from the opinionated carnival gentleman that she failed to make the connection. "...Have we met?" she asked curiously.

And just as he says that, the good hands dig good nails into him, making him wince a bit as he looks between her and Feferi. There was a definite tension in the air. Thick enough for even him to feel it.
But he was taken out of it a bit by Feferi seeming to not even register who he is, a crestfallen look appearing on his face as his head just rests against Jane's in defeat. "...The carnival? My food truck? You...nevermind."
no subject
His expression softened a little when his eyes met Jane's. He huffed out a breath and rolled his eyes. "I didn't really have a choice. Feferi dragged me here without telling me where we were going."
He tried to stuff his hands into his pockets, only to realize his shorts didn't have pockets, and instead awkwardly crossed his arms over his chest. "Don't you get on my case about that, too, Crocker. Dave is already pissed at me about it. But I didn't lie to any of you. I didn't know I had powers, alright?"
He felt defensive about the matter, and he knew his explanation sounded that way. But Dave had been mad at him for days now, and he knew this was just the cherry on top of an already shitty situation with his brother. (They hadn't exactly fought yet, and if he had it his way, they never would, but he knew it was coming when they finally got home.) He didn't want to deal with Jake or Jane being mad at him, too.
He glanced at Jake, his expression fond but exasperated. "You're lucky you've got her looking after you, English."
no subject
Feferi rocked from her heels to her toes and settled on the balls of her feet, bouncing a little and absently taking a step to be more beside Dirk than slightly behind him as she propped her hands on her hips as she grinned up at him. "Good fin I dragged you along then!" Feferi said smugly.
She smiled more genuinely at Jake and Jane as she bounced on the balls of her feet again, clearly eager to get moving. "Do either of you need sunscreen or water if you weren't originally planning on staying?" she asked brightly instead of asking if they were Prospitians.
no subject
Speaking of the stranger, he seemed to be awful familiar with the bubbly, pink-lipped woman. She cocked a brow to Dirk in silent question, more confused than anything else. Jane had never seen this woman before in her life, and it had taken ages to get on Dirk's good side. Who was this woman, anyway?
"Water would be lovely, actually." Jane said with a smile, eyes still flicking towards Dirk. "... I don't burn very easily; I went sailing a lot as a child."
no subject
He looked to Feferi as she offered supplies, grimacing a bit as he hadn't thought about...well. Either of those things. The hot sun was different than a hot fryer. And he burns like...well, like fish. "Sunscreen would be ducky, and a bit of water to wet the whistle wouldn't hurt too."
Then part of him remembered why there were, blinking a bit as he chuckled. "So uh...who here has any idea how we should go about training? My 'training' is usually at a gym in a tank top and some way too short shorts."
no subject
He cocked a brow back at Jane, mimicking her expression teasingly. "Hal took the liberty of befriending Feferi for me." He explained shortly, unable to stop himself from scowling.
Jake probably didn't know what he was getting himself into, accepting the offer of sun screen, but Dirk didn't warn him. Maybe he'd learn to think a little more before he spoke.
He scoffed at Jake's question. "I doubt anyone here could teach me anything I don't already know about fighting. I can lend you a hand, English."
no subject
"Hal is reely tricky," she said in response, leaving Jake's arm several shades lighter but basically guaranteed not to burn as she tipped the bottle to squirt more into her hand.
"Originally Kanaya, Terezi, and my plan was to set up some sort of fight club where we can practice our powers with company. I shoal look for some sort of rental space... there're probably a few empty warehouses that would suit our needs..." she volunteered, her pink eyes sweeping over the disorganized rabble as she pursed her lips.
"Those of us with training whale problubberly need to take on some apprentices..."
no subject
Jake's hand left hers and she frowned, eyes flashing briefly as she looked up to see the other girl lathering him up like something straight out of a low budget porn. Her lips formed a hard line, and she gritted her teeth. "... Kanaya, Terezi, and I's plan." she corrected stiffly, giving a little sniff. She hadn't corrected someone's grammar like that since she was a high schooler, arrogant and desperate to prove others wrong. But this... Well, this was a special circumstance.
"Do you not think that Jake can apply his own sunscreen?" she asked with a soft clearing of her throat, voice growing taut as her chest clenched. Any hope she had gleaned from Feferi not having recognized him was dashed in an instant. "I assure you, he is quite capable."
no subject
Instead, Feferi approached with it on her own hands and she got to work. And you wouldn't be too in the wrong to think the man's head had turned into a beet.
Here was a woman he had seen pull her wallet from her chest not a few feet from him, and also tipped him more than he had ever gotten in his life. And now she was putting sunscreen on him. ...what the hell had his life become?
At the clearing of Jane's throat, he looked to her, wide-eyed and somewhat shocked. "...huh?"
no subject
Really, he just didn't want Jane to explode and pick a fight with Feferi. (He wasn't sure if he was more worried for Jane, Feferi or the rest of the people in the park.)
"I've sparred with Jane before." He said, a little too loudly. "You're not bad, Crocker, but I could give you a few pointers."
If they were expected to train the others, maybe he should get to work on the project he'd drawn up for Jake. His birthday was a while off, but the sparring robot would be more appropriate now. (And it would teach Jake to stay on his toes and pay attention to his surroundings.)
no subject
"What kind of fighting do you prefer Jane?" she asked with interest, her pink eyes sparkling cheerfully at the other girl. Feferi flashed her teeth, smiling in happy obliviousness to the mood shift she had spurred with her wanton sunscreen smearing. "Are you a fencer tuna? I fin I'm pretty useless with a swordfish... It's been ages since I've had one in hand!!!"
no subject
Jane had to admit, her usually easygoing smile was a bit forced as she turned back to Feferi, doing her best to be polite. As confused (and, if she was honest with herself, a bit jealous) as Jane was by her presence, the overexcited woman had done nothing wrong save for buying her local botique out of all its pink sportsware. "I do enjoy fencing, but I actually prefer working with two handed weapons more. Tridents, bow staffs... That sort of thing. I'm a bit rusty with weapons, though. It's hand-to-hand combat that my father was most interested in teaching me, and what I am best at."
no subject
He did gladly take the change of subject, grinning as he applied the much needed protection. "Boxing is my sport, and I'm an ace with guns. Love berettas the most though. Just give em a twirl and nothing else feels better. Oh! Janey."
He squirted a bit of sunscreen on his hand, nodding to it. "Sure you don't need some?"
no subject
"I don't fence."
She was holding his hand again, but he didn't bother to try to pull away. She couldn't take a hint, so it wouldn't do him any good.
He held Jane's gaze easily with his own eyes hidden behind his shades. "My bad, Crocker, I didn't realize it was my job to stroke your ego. I'll get right on that."
He nearly groaned out loud when Jake offered Jane sun screen. Christ, this could get really awkward, really quickly. (Especially if Feferi decided to offer a hand as well.)
"I think everyone can handle putting on their own sun screen, English." He cut in.
no subject
"Oh my cod I didn't fin to bring mine but I could and we could spar and I haven't gotten a good spar with a peer in a clam's age!!!" Feferi exclaimed rapturously, actually starting to jump up and down as she beamed at the other.
"Have you ever had a chance to try a double trident? It's SUCH a different kettle of fish but it's reely FUN to throw in spins and flips and you have to keep track of so many more fins at once!!!!!" Feferi giggled. Jane's mysterious origins notwithstanding, Fef was wholeheartedly excited at the prospect of a good trident match.
"Or underwater fighting..." she mused, looking around the park. If Jane had allowed Fef to seize her hands she would give them a squeeze. "Glub, reely going to need to find a betta place to practice..."
no subject
"I prefer a spear on the opposite end of my own trident." She said, calmer than Feferi but nonetheless pleased herself. It was rare that she found another who was frond... Ahem, /fond/ of the same tool. "And I would love to spar with you sometime, Feferi."
Her eyes locked to Jake's then and she nodded him over, managing to pry a hand free of Fef's grasp so that she could motion to her neck. "Why don't you get where I can't reach, dear? The favor would be much appreciated."
no subject
Jake raised an eyebrow as the two grew so excited over mutual use of a weapon, chuckling somewhat and thinking for a moment.
"Say...think you could do something spiffy with like a tree branch? Considering you got that whole plant thing going on. Make like a tree trident. A triplent? I dunno. Just thinking out loud. Stop me if I'm stupid.
no subject
"Keep your tongue in your mouth unless you're gonna use it, English." He muttered to Jake. (And what he fuck, why had he gone and said that?)
He tensed as Feferi collided with Jane, ready to break up a fight if he needed to, but they appeared to be getting along now. His expression softened and he smiled, just a little, at the pair. (He actually didn't know who he'd bet on in a fight between the two.)
no subject
She frowned, eyebrows coming together as she tilted her head up to look at Dirk, trying to catch ahold of the errant thought.
Feferi gasped and grabbed the front of the fairly tight tanktop she had forced him into earlier and dragged it up. "Dirk!! Your abs!!!! Your BACK!!!! There were shirts with SPF rating but this wasn't one of them!!!!" she exclaimed, distressed and doing her height-challenged darndest to yank the thin material up over his head. "YOU NEED MORE SUNSCREEN!!!"
no subject
She watched, preparing to step in if need be to assist in reconstructing the bubble Feferi had so expertly popped again and again.
no subject
He grinned at Jane's response, giving a small rub to the back of her neck. "That'd be so cool! I was trying to think of more offensive ways to- W...what."
And he watched as the perfect storm that was this woman was unleashed upon his friend. He was stunned at first, just staring on as a man who rarely hugged him. And she was attempting to strip him? In public? And he didn't even know her last name?
No. No, this does not go.
He quickly stepped in, lowering the shirt back down and pressing his hand to her shoulder in a soft, 'polite' motion as he cleared his throat. "...so. As Dirk was saying, I think we all can handle the sunscreen ourselves. If the man would like help with that, he'll let us know. Please don't take people's shirts off without them asking. Or unless you're paying them some heavy sugar. Then that'd be a more private thing, eh?"
Just to ensure the point stood, he kept himself between the two, looking back to Dirk with a thumb's up. "So! My main D, you need help with that?"
no subject
He didn't get a chance to think on it further before Feferi was shouting something at him and trying to tear his shirt off. His blush darkened as his stomach and part of his chest were exposed to, well, everyone else in the park.
"W-What the hell?!" He felt one of the seams rip. (Why the hell was this shirt so tight in the first place?) And then there was Jake, saving him from Hurricane Feferi.
He adjusted his shirt with a huff, scowling when it didn't quite sit right. It was hanging off his shoulder now, and there was a noticeable tear on one side. (Damn. Feferi was strong for someone so small.)
He covered his face with both hands, groaning softly and willing Jake to shut up. His face was still bright read.
"I'm fine." He snapped, probably too harshly. "I don't need the damned sun screen or anyone's help with it."
He dropped his hands and glared at both Jake and Feferi from behind his shades. "And you two can keep your tongues and heavy sugar to yourselves, Christ."
no subject
"Oh no!!!!" she said in between giggles, shucking off her loose pink shirt and holding it out to him. "Sorry!!!!! I didn't mean to tear it!!!!! I just didn't want you to get sunburned!!!"
Feferi, who was clearly as comfortable in her bright pink spandex without the additional layer as she was when dressed normally continued holding out the shirt to him. "Might look less.... Tarzan-y?" she said, her eyes glittering with amusement. She bit her lip to keep from laughing any more, actually feeling a little guilty about his embarrassment.
"Honestly you don't have anyfin to be embarrassed about!!" she said, attempting to cheer him up. "Guys without shirts don't get in trouble!!! I'd take my whole top off but apparently that's illegal." Feferi rolled her eyes to invite him to share in how ridiculous of a law it is. "Even if it would be less hot!!! It's SO unfair!!" She shook her head and her braids lashed back and forth.
She looked over at Jane expectantly. "I mean if guys can take their shirts off when it gets too hot, why not girls?" she asked.
